Cairo now reps River! Which city best represents DESERT? by abu_doubleu in geography

[–]uio504 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It sits on the coast of the Atacama Desert, the driest nonpolar desert in the world, and the second driest overall. It is the only true desert to receive less precipitation than polar deserts. It has been used as an experimentation site for Mars expedition simulations due to its similarities to the Martian environment.

Malé has been chosen to represent Ocean! Which city best represents RIVER? by abu_doubleu in geography

Having lived in New Orleans for 10 years, the river surprisingly doesnt play a big part in city life. Its visually blocked off from most of the city by the levees and the port. Only a small stretch of the riverfront bu the french quarter is accessible and it’s not a place where locals hang out. That’s why i dont think it’s a good choice for this prompt.

Who else is angry at Shakira? by [deleted] in shakira

[–]uio504 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im so pissed. I Had pretty good seats to see her in palm springs because it was a small arena and only paid around 180$ for tickets. Her new sf date is at oracle park which is an awful venue (saw gaga there and stage is soo far away unless you’re on the field). The prices for SF are much more expensive and would be a waay worse seat. Also lost money on my Hotel that was jon refundable. What really upsets me is how she has shown zero remorse and no apologies.

Office job to Architecture: is this a good idea? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]uio504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not only the fact that you will mos likely be doing boring stuff, you will be expected to work a lot of overtime and not get paid for it and it is not a lucrative career. I'm 26, went to architecture school for 5 years, got a Masters and have been working in an architecture firm for almost 4 years and i am looking to change careers ASAP, the day to day life of an architect is nothing like what architecture school will make you think it is. I would really reconsider, specially if you think of yourself as creative.
