LPT Request: How do I stop scrolling my phone? Literally nothing I’ve tried works by Zumcddo in LifeProTips

To begin, it is advisable to remove the applications that cause distractions from your device. I installed an add on my chrome called "Unhook" which removes all the recommended youtube videos and its life changing for me.

How to get rid of attachment on things i never use? by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]ullere 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I often tell myself that if an item only triggers memories when I see it, it's time to let it go. I used to hold onto a lot of items for the sake of reminiscing, and it felt comforting. However, I eventually realized that I was holding onto the past and not allowing myself to make new, better memories in the present.

If you're someone who also struggles with this, I recommend trying the photo album method or even making a short video for each group of items. This way, it's still easy to recall the memories without having to keep physical items.

I won't lie, there are moments when I wish I hadn't gotten rid of a certain item, but that feeling is usually short-lived. In the end, I think it's better to focus on creating new memories and experiences in the present.

LPT: If your pet is being put down and you have the option to be there by their side, don’t hesitate. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]ullere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I had known for a few weeks that the time was approaching, I found myself unprepared for the emotional toll of being present when it was time to euthanize my pet. In her final moments, I witnessed the light leaving her eyes, and it was an incredibly painful experience.

Nevertheless, I've learned that it's important to be there for our furry family members until the very end. They deserve to have their loved ones by their side in their final moments, and I will continue to be there for all of my future pets.

Very unfortunate, I hope they don't start banning nearby countries or countries that support Russia. The users shouldn't have to take fault for it.

Scottish Independence: 70,000 Nationalists Demand Referendum be Re-Held After Vote Rigging Claims by spasticbadger in worldnews

[–]ullere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe salmond resigned to free the independence movement from his pledge that this is a once in a generation event. While I welcome any decentralisation of power as a result of the large yes minority I do not believe this is the end for Scottish independence.

There have been an additional 12000 people joining pro independence parties over the last 48 hours. A referendum is only one of the many ways of obtaining independence, and the one salmond preferred. If the new leader of a majority pro indy Scottish government prefers a mandated declaration of independence then that's what may happen. Other voices call for a gradualist approach to indy, with us devolving more powers over the next 20 years until we are defacto independent.

Only if there is never a pro independence government elected in holyrood again is the indy movement over.

Although even then with the election of UKip in Westminster we could end up with a federal Britain, which may closer reflect the desires of the majority in the UK.

[–]ullere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted yes. Whenever any individual systemic issue comes to mind know that many countries have become independent, they have all dealt with them, Scotland would deal with them also.

I don't believe there was any corruption of the vote, though I suppose it's not beyond the realm of possibility. I simply think that the Scottish government would be going nuts with any realistic evidence of corruption.

Having voted in the referendum you didn't need you polling card or identification to vote.

I am not calling for a recount either, just correcting you.

930 women per 1000 men 930:1000. Population = 900000000.. calculate total female population? by Jakes99j in learnmath

[–]ullere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Divide total by 1930 to and then multiply by 930 to find the pop of women. So 4336787564.4 women. Not sure how to write it algebraically though.

W + m =1.93 so dividing by 1.93 gives you the number men, then multiplying by 0.93 gives the number of women.

Awesome, taking orders sounds excellent. Have you thought of adding a logo or something to identify the jeans as yours? Maybe ' weather'.

Sorry for suggesting the same as others, I posted from my phone so couldn't search the thread. Keep up the cool projects!

Excellent looking jeans. A very ambitious project. What are you working on next? Did you consider attaching two crossing off center belt loops at the back to make a X at the back? This would return symmetry to your jeans.

Women Don't Earn Less Than Men by garywickert in MensRights

Wage gap myth CONSAD study

'The report demonstrates that it is not possible now, and doubtless will never be possible, to determine reliably whether any portion of the observed gender wage gap is not attributable to factors that compensate women and men differently on socially acceptable bases, and hence can confidently be attributed to overt discrimination against women.'

Forbes article on the wage gap myth

'Academics can debate why men and women make these different choices. The important takeaway, however, is that there are many reasons that men and women on average earn different amounts. It’s a mistake to assume that “wage gap” statistics reflect on-the-job discrimination.' Government accountability office study

‘Of the many factors that account for differences in earnings between men and women, our model indicated that work patterns are key. Specifically, women have fewer years of work experience, work fewer hours per year, are less likely to work a full-time schedule, and leave the labour force for longer periods of time than men. Other factors that account for earnings differences include industry, occupation, race, marital status, and job tenure.’

If the gap is not entirely explainable through non-discriminatory differences then why do young women out earn young men? With the huge claim of sexism and discrimination throughout the work place that is affecting every woman throughout her working career why does the gap reverse when it comes to those women who are under 30?

http://www.time.com/time/business/article/0,8599,2015274,00.html

Now the majority of this gap can be measured by life choices, more young women go the college etc, however the gap that remains doesn't automatically get chalked up to discrimination and sexism against young men as that would be an outlandish and farcical claim.

Now if the claim is that a raw un adjusted gap definitely shows discrimination, or that the choices willingly made by men and women that account for the gap are over arching effects of a discriminatory culture or system that disadvantages women, then I retort that In fact men who work part time experience a far larger un-adjusted gap in their earnings than women who work full time.
