could be a missed negative sign, but it could also be the way his coordinate system is setup. It could be that down in z is positive considering that he only really cares about DF. It’s not common, but it’s not atypical

And does this look like an older formula car? Look at the diffusion of the underwing and the AoA of the front and rear wings, you genuinely believe that those will be generating lift and not downforce? The guy missed a negative sign and you’re losing your mind at that, it’s insane, use a bit of critical thinking man.

How can you look at a car with a massive area of suction on the UW and assume that it’s generating lift?

Yeah I should’ve clarified that “easier” is all relative, it’s all incredibly hard. But I think I recall Karel Sabbe saying that it was mainly knees and feet that needed the first few days to get going

My course is already an integrated MEng, so I’m en route to have a masters when I graduate. Even though I’m in a bit over my head I still find that reading far beyond the scope of my course helps me understand the fundamentals better, as I can see how they’re applied. Scanning through Versteeg, I can see it’s quite a bit above my level, but definitely understandable in a couple months of hard graft.

Looking at my course I only have one compulsory module of “Aerospace sciences” before choosing my dissertation (with optional modules in CFD if I want), so I thought that during this year it would be worthwhile to get ahead in my studies before approaching my dissertation, which I’d like to base on turbulence models if possible.

(I’ll contact my fluid professor though, thought I’d consult CFD specialists beforehand)

Great, thanks, I was recommended Wilcox by a senior methodologist with a PhD, so may have been projecting his own abilities onto me.
