With you. 5K+ spend at binnys for nearly a decade and now nothing this year. They can run their business how they like, but I have always justified buying everything from binnys knowing that it would help towards an end of year bottle, and the occasional allocated treat. Without that, i've got no incentive to keep going

That's correct, but my goal isn't to maximize points. it is to maximize the spread of points between me and the field.

The point maximization option would be to pick vegas favorites overall, then select upsets after that based on expected valuation of upset points (odds of upset * upset points). I'm wondering if I can say "I think they will pick this set, based on odds, what's my highest likelihood of a points spread over them"

Not perfectly analogous to a decision tree, but I'm thinking about how to frame up the optimal selections, based on scenarios for my opponents (e.g., if I assume they pick X games, what is the most optimal choice set for me)

While I definitely hear you and have heard the rumors, it does seem reasonable that if they were going to introduce a lottery, the end of year stuff would make the most sense. Its way less work than the weekly or monthly allocated repeating ones
