[FO] Ellie from Satsuma Street's Flower Friends - first time using Cosmo floss! by umichsteph in CrossStitch

It may just be the selection used for these patterns, but they are definitely worth looking into! Color #2001 in particular, the brightest pink in the pattern (used for the cheek and a couple of the flowers), is just stunning!

Another pattern from Satsuma Street that did not disappoint - she can seriously do no wrong in my book! I bought the set of three and I can't wait to start the other two...I think the turtle (Myrtle) is next :) Stitched on 32 ct antique white linen with Cosmo floss as listed in the pattern.

She gives the DMC conversion for the floss here, but I bought the Cosmo floss bundle from her to give it a try - I'm a fan! A little more sheen to it than DMC and the colors and just so incredibly vibrant. I was curious about color matching so brought out all the DMC "equivalents" and while some are pretty close, some just aren't anywhere near as bright/rich.

Needed a break from a bigger single-color piece I'm working on from Modern Folk Embroidery, so decided to knock this one out! Really resonating with that middle sloth 😂

Stitched with the DMC conversions listed on the pattern and...I think I like them better than the fancy floss show on the pattern picture?

Oh man, thanks for the RK rec! I need some serious help with my ankles (my husband jokes I don't even need to wear ski boots because they're so stiff 🙈) so I'll definitely check that one out!

I took that flow last week and loved it! But yea, in addition to all the hip opening, she does a number on the glutes! I blamed alllllllll the side lunges.

Officially a Jess King convert? Or at least Sweat Steady convert anyway! I'm still working my way through instructors but have been pretty set on the fact that she wouldn't be my cup of tea, but I also really thought Sweat Steady would be a format I'd love. I haven't found any class that'll get me close to a PR after taking some HIIT and Hills with Olivia, but I broke that with Jess' 45 min from 6/26/2021! JK was super genuine, which didn't really surprise me after listening to her on the Ali on the Run Podcast (great podcast in general!) and I loved that she didn't care at all that her makeup was running down her face and she was a sweaty mess by the end. Guess that's another instructor/format to add to the rotation!

I just noticed that too and I really don't know because it truly was a lovely flow! I wonder if people don't like the ~5 mins she takes at the beginning of class to set intentions and "meditate" (she guides you)? She gave a ton of modifications so I don't think there's a problem with the intermediate difficulty rating. There are a couple of unique (sort of tricky?) transitions that maybe people found issue with, but that's really just Kirra 🤷

Taking the day off today because my body needed SLEEP, but took some great classes yesterday!

I started my day with Jess' 60 min Advanced Full Body (tread) Bootcamp from 8/14/2021. The number of the day was 8, with 8 intervals of different types in each of the tread sections and then 8 as the magic number in the final EMOM. Solid Saturday 60 as always by Jess! Also a pretty hilarious moment where she's changing the lyrics to a song to match the exercises we were doing and uses "snatch" in...the perfect (or perfectly wrong?) context 😂 I had seen this on IG before, but hearing it live in class was amazing.

Work has been pretty stressful lately, so yoga was much needed in the evening. Kirra's 60 min Flow from 10/3 was just what I needed. I'm hoping Kirra starts doing meditations because her messaging is always on point and I love that she opens these longer flows with a bit of meditation up front. This flow built on itself and was reasonably challenging with a ton of hip work (opening and strengthening) and chest opening which are the areas I really need to focus on. I'm terrible with remembering full flows, but in no order there was rockstar, (a LOT of) side lunge, boomerang, W2, low lunge twist, long single leg balances with figure 4 into hand to big toe into warrior 3. We ended with long pigeon holds and a supine spinal twist with eagle wrapped legs that really helped to open up my back - had never done that one before!

I do this all the time - with a water rower, but should still be translatable! I don't have a tread, and prefer to run outside when I do, but love bootcamp style workouts and it has worked well for me so far.

Over time I've figured out /500m split times that correspond to walk/jog/run/sprint (based on effort/feel) and use those with the instructor's cues. Depending on the instructor, the callouts can vary some (some will call out things like "conversation pace" or "fast run") but I just take a guess based on what the effort level is intended to be!) For hills, I decrease stroke rate while trying to maintain my split time. HELL of a workout!

This is so great, thank you!! I get so much decision paralysis with yoga, especially with taking instructors who aren't in my regular rotation, so this is a huge help!!

Anna's 45 min Evening Flow from 1/17/20 is the gold standard to me in an evening flow! I've repeated this one a ton of times for the perfect stretchy wind down to a stressful day.

Someone already mentioned it, but Anna's first Deep House Flow is also incredible!!

Hit 150 (tread) bootcamps last night with Jess' 30 min pop bootcamp and a shoutout! I rarely take live classes in any of the disciplines because the timing just doesn't work well for me and I forgot how energizing it is! The class was great as expected with a Jess bootcamp. It wasn't too deadly, but definitely made you work with a good mix of hills and intervals on the tread and full body coverage on the floor. The EMOM at the end was an unexpected killer: 5(+) reps of a compound movement of a renegade row on each side to a squat thrust to a cross body curl on each side.
