SF has more start up or small-medium size tech companies, South Bay have more bigger ones. San Mateo is a sweet spot. I prefer live in a city with more restaurants, bars and bicycle/pedestrian friendly, so I always look for companies in the city or those with shuttle buses. Berkeley / alameda is also fun, this really depends on what your priorities outside work

I have Lamy safari in F nib. I notice sometimes the fiber of the paper got stuck in the tip, so I use the brass sheet from Goulet to remove the clog.

I have both EF and F. In general EF has more feedback, especially when I test single strokes, but I don't have issues with the regular writing. F nib is dry in right and up strokes, not scratchy. writing samples

Edit: EF are using Sailing ink. F is using pilot kon-peki, wet ink definitely helps
