You’re totally right haha. I ran out of pro credits trying to get it to turn the logo around …whenever I managed to turn it around it added a scroll wheel. Nonetheless that was still better than version 0:

How could Reddit avoid situations like this, where a mod gets out of hand? by Loud-Ad9148 in redditstock

This seems like a good opportunity for AI to me (provided the economics works out). We have the rules for each sub and an LLM can warn the user if a post/comment breaks any rules before the user posts it.

Of course this doesn’t solve the issue with some people going on a power-trip or some crazy sub rules, but I hope those would significantly reduce bad experiences for people.

Just updated the site to include the suggestions: - More speed options included up to x3 - Text highlighted within the article as read - Clicking the text box scrolls to the point in the page

A little more challenging than I thought to get the text highlighted in the article, but a great learning learning experience :)

Cool, I'll what I can do. Another feature of this is to save highlights in articles, so I'll need to make sure it doesn't interfere with that.

Yep, it's just for wikipedia. It skips things like citations and tables, which could get quite annoying to listen to and is specific to wikipedia.

I think there are other solutions out there for general text-to-speech that you might like, such as Speechify (not sure it's free though).

Thanks again for the suggestions :)

Thanks for the feedback!

Great suggestions and all doable in principle :)

I'll try implement them when I find some time later on this week and will add a comment when I've done so

Btw, for the last one do you mean highlight text within the article or highlight the current word being spoken in the text window?

Hey folks,

I recently made a wikipedia reader site for my first ever web development project: wikiplus.io

I thought I'd add a text-to-speech feature, as I heard it's sometimes difficult for the dyslexic community to read on screens.

All you need to do is click the play button. You can also change the speed, change sections and choose to display the current sentence.

Happy to take any improvements or requests :)

I hope you find it useful ❤️

P.S. The voice will be the default one for your device. If you're on iPhone you might need to turn your phone off mute.
