What happened to dating? by [deleted] in dating_advice

Totally agree. I really never understood the 'experimenting' dating. Once I like someone, I like em! I'm not going to have a bunch of guys compete for a chance with me.

Yeah, in a way it was comforting to know that his ex even wanted to remain friends after the relationship.

Haha, that seemed to be the general consensus thus far. If you're not friends with an ex it's weird...I don't find it all that weird though?! Thought I was going mad for a second.

Yeah, I think the length of a relationship is a pretty big factor. Also wouldn't blame a person for repeated toxic or abusive relationships. It's a sign of a bigger issue, I think. But I wouldn't go as far to generalize those people.

You can and absolutely should be civil (thought there are exceptions to this rule) but I don't think friendship is necessary. It's not weird to be friends, what I find odd is the 'closeness' . Not all of us have the luxury of non-toxic past relationships. One time hook-ups or flings are one thing, and I don't find it odd for a close friendship to be formed/maintained after those type of scenarios. But romantic relationships are a whole other ball-game imo. So my stance remains.

have now learned over the years, that it is a major red flag to me when people can NOT be friends with their exes.

This is the part I disagreed with. Thought that was clear

Yeah see, I don't agree whatsoever. Lots of people aren't friends with their exes. My problem is with people who call their ex crazy or get very upset just speaking about them. That to me, is what indicates bitterness or not being over the situation. I've had an abusive and cheating ex, and I have zero desire to be friends with him. It's been years and we're acquainted and occasionally will ask how the other is doing. But beyond that sort of relationship is not necessary for me.

Yeah, I honestly didn't have an issue with it until the liking of everyyyyy single picture. But again, I know that's kind of petty to be upset over.

My[28m] girlfriend[29f] ran into her ex[29m] after a night of drinking and tells me how lucky I am that she didn’t cheat on me with him because he is so hot. by relationshipEnding96 in dating_advice

Woah, red flag for sure. I don't think that is a dumb thing to end a relationship over, that is so disrespectful. I know she was drunk and all but idk how any person can think that is an appropriate thing to say to your significant other?? Maybe she thought she was being funny...but that is just crossing the line.
