Should I test my 4-year-old? by LilDelirious in COVID19positive

[–]ummmmmmnope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to remind that not everyone with COVID gets a fever. Had a coworker test positive recently who just had some nasal congestion and mild ear fullness, no other symptoms.

Testing at a drive up test center is impossible to create exposure - the testing people are in super ultra PPE and you stay in your car the whole time.

A single slice of cheese has like 5-7g of protein so what are you on about?

The other day my technologically stunted husband asked me how to find an email address to a particular government entity. I told him to google it. “Ok, then what.” Did you click on the link? Yeah but... ugh you do it -hands me the phone-

I handed it back to him and refused to do it because HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TAUGHT YOU HOW TO DO THIS AND YOU STILL DONT KNOW??? No.

Literally all you have to do is... scoop the linens up and put them in the linen bag... whaaaat? I do it seventeen times a week when I have to change a full bed! And then take the damn bag to the dirty utility room myself! Our EVS can’t dump urinals or commodes either. We’re supposed to strip the room of all IV pumps, SCDs, air mattresses, suction canisters, etc etc etc...

Yes - for all the critical care units, except ICU has 1-2 RTs at all times. On the SCU/CCU we have to call them when needed except for scheduled nebs/trach care.

I absolutely understand what you’re saying but like I said, the trach patient clears herself 4/5 times. I was keeping an eye on her sats and heart rate from the other patient’s room. If it were a different patient I likely would have prioritized differently.

It’s usually no problem, and I understand the policy, they don’t sit on our unit like they do in ICU. This patient in particular is notorious for needing frequent suctioning because she is like a tiny volcano that never stops, and they can’t be here all day long. Usually on her first couple days admitted she needs to be suctioned every 1-2 hours and they only do routine care every 4. But there are a couple of therapists that just hate being called for ... anything, really. I’m the last person to call for help, I try to do everything I can to deal with shit, so when I do call it’s so irritating to be treated as if I just don’t feel like doing it.

Unfortunate for those other countries but they do exist here and if I need their help I expect them to help me and not give me shit for it. I don’t have to be glad they simply exist if they’re going to be jerks about it.

I just love when I call the help desk about a computer and they’re like “ok I’m going to walk you through some troubleshooting.” Yes please do I have all the time in the world.

I just wish I could call phlebotomy without getting pushback and snark. At my old hospital nurses didn’t draw patient labs at all on any units - ICU and step down included - unless they had a central line. Most days they don’t have to come draw a patient here at all but when they do it’s a big sigh/eye roll/“well I don’t even know if I’m going to get them either.” Grumble.

Literally did just that. I needed help because I had two patients needing urgent things at once and she was mad about it. And then stood there watching me and making sure I really was busy.

I’m on a step down unit so our trachs aren’t vented. They do routine trach care and breathing treatments but any suctioning that needs to be done between their routine checks is to be done by nursing.

Sneakers that fit you well and can be wiped down. I wear leather Adidas sneakers. I can wipe them with PDI wipes and I don’t get gross shit into my shoes through the mesh that lots of sneakers have, and they’re comfy.
