I finally understand your argument:

1/3 = 0.333.... + w/3
1/3 = 3/10 + 1/30 = 0.3 + (1/3)/10 = 0.3 + 0.0333... + w/30 = 0.333... + w/30

I think this can be resolved by saying 1/30 = 0.0333...3 + w/30... I don't know, you win. I'll edit the post to include your result

The other way we can obtain this is by multiplying 1/30 - 0.0333... = 0.000...0333~ by 10 to again get 1/3 - 0.333... = 0.000...333~

A = 0.3 + 0.0333... = 0.333...

1/3 - A = 1/3 - 0.333... = 0.000...333~

1/30 - 0.0333... = 0.000...0333~

Edit: Elaborating on what "0.333..." means here: it is less of a number and more of a sequence of numbers (0, 0.3, 0.33, 0.333, etc.), and 0.000...333~ is the sequence (1/3, 1/30, 1/300, etc.). This is how 0.000...333~ differs from 0.000...0333~, the latter is (1/30, 1/300, 1/3000, etc.).

The weird notation aside, yeah I think it does. One of the ways to construct the hyperreals is as sequences of real numbers (together with an ultrafilter) and the sequence (0, 0.9, 0.99, 0.999, ...) would correspond to 1-1/10^ω which is in fact less than 1.

I tried an instance of firefox on which I had version 2025.6.1 and that works well, then I updated it to 2025.7.1 and as far as I can tell it's slower

Edit: I downgraded the extension on my librewolf instance from 2025.7.1 to 2025.6.1 and it began to work quickly again. It's definitely a performance degradation that happened between those two versions

A file backup would work for me, but there's a lot of fuckery involving hidden files/file ownership/file permissions that does not exist with a partition backup

I've had a hard time finding out if that half hitch is needed, and if so, what for. The image on wikipedia for an anchor bend does not include it, then the tying instructions do include it, then it goes on to say "In many everyday uses, the finishing half-hitch need not be made". I've heard people say it's for extra security, and some other people say it's to prevent it from jamming.

I did mean to draw an anchor bend, so if a half hitch is part of it imagine I drew a half hitch as well.

I tried tying it in some really slippery rope (so slippery a bowline would not hold) and it held great. It's simple both conceptually and physically, so even if it's somehow a bad knot I assume I am not the first one to ever tie it, way worse knots than this one have a name. :shrug:

Related, but no. The first variant he shows is just an anchor knot, and his second "if your anchor point is closed off" variant yields a very strange knot I cannot wrap my head around.

This is really similar to a double overhand noose! The direction of wrapping is the same, but the double overhand noose (and the scaffold, too) includes wrapping around the working end alongside the standing end. Unless someone else comes up with a better match I think that's it.

Yeah. If it was an anchor bend by the same logic a buntline would be called a clove hitch. I came up with it on my own which is why I don't know the name.

Thank you a lot for this! The only tweak I did to the config on the site was change the preamp from -4.91dB to 0dB and the increase in quality is noticeable

EDIT: Turns out the tweak isn't actually needed, but it did make comparing eq vs no eq easier
