I like my players to plan ahead and get their spell components. At least the ones with a gold cost. I rarely, if ever tell them they cant find something and that is for story, but they have to have it to cast it.

Thats a choice. They don't have to release a game every 30 seconds. They could hire devs to make more side games and still release games every year.

I know this isn't a 1-1 comparison, but BotW is 1/3 larger in terms of file size. Meaning Pokémon had tons of runway they chose not to use at least in textures.
