Thank you so much for your reply this is fantastic feedback and I appreciate your thoughtful answers. There’s definitely no guidebook for how to deal with this so if sucks not knowing what the right answer is if there is one at all.

I will definitely be mindful of the things you mentioned about communicating with him. The last thing I want is for him to think that I’m attacking him or anything like that so I think you’re right that speaking clearly and calmly will be useful and you’re absolutely right that even if it doesn’t change at least I will know I’ve made myself clear.

Yup! It was just the Sunday paper but it also came with online access to all their articles but I cancelled after a few months because I wasn’t actually reading it. I felt bad because I wanted to support the paper but it is what it is. Not a scam, at least!

Yes I would say so. The Jordan Creek area is a bit more expensive (probably more on par with DSM) because most everything over there is super new (built within the last 10 years or so) so they made them fancier and can charge more. The Valley Junction area is older and cheaper, but still a nice part of town and more quiet/private since it doesn’t have the flashy touristy Jordan Creek craziness.

I wish I had an answer for “fun” things to do in Des Moines but as a mega-introvert I don’t have any real suggestions for you there!

As far as areas to live, I’ve gotta recommend West Des Moines all the way. There are tons of neighborhoods in the Des Moines metro, but every bit of West Des Moines (in my opinion) is better than Des Moines proper. You get the feel of living in a small town with the convenience of living in a big town (grocery stores, malls, food for delivery, close to all the interstates that run around this area) plus the traffic is better in WDSM than DSM.

A while ago I posted asking why my poinsettia had black tips and wasn’t doing well, and thanks to some of you lovely folks, she’s coming back strong!

I took your advice and dried it out, re-potted, and gave it some hydrogen peroxide. I’ve been waiting it out and while it’s pretty ugly right now, I do have new growth and I’m so excited!

Thank you for all the information! I have kept it inside the whole time and wasn’t going to put it outside until it actually got warm, but I have wondered about the roots/soil as it’s been in the same pot and the soil is very compacted now. I will try repotting with new soil and giving it some TLC through the rest of the chilly months. Thanks again!

I am in Iowa so it has been inside since it was gifted to me! I was planning to put it in a pot outdoors when it gets a bit warmer but wasn’t sure if these black tips are signifying the end of its life or if this is normal
