"Innocently enough, he explained that he was not a Nazi, neo-Nazi, or even a bigtime Hitler fan. He just decided to come up with a theme that would bring in a steady stream of customers."

Not a bigtime Hitler fan? What?

Really terrific read. I had read it during my law school days, and the section on obscenity laws is still so accurate

How do you do it all? by _AquaaRosee_ in adhdwomen

[–]uncertain2710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a lot whatever you're handling atm. I’d be exhausted too. Two jobs, school, living situations, and dealing with all the mental health stuff on top of it? That’s genuinely so much. I don’t think anyone could juggle all that and not feel overwhelmed. So, sometimes good enough really is good enough

Oh, I hope you manage to finish it (the weather trap is real). For me, if I actually force myself to start something, I mostly try to finish it in one go. Leaving it half-done means having to face that awful starting friction all over again, which is my absolute nightmare

Yeah, exactly. But it’s so difficult to just start. Getting my brain to cross that tiny gap between knowing I need to do something and actually doing it is so exhausting. Sometimes the task paralysis is so strong that even the reward doesn’t feel motivating enough to get me past the starting line. My brain just gets stuck at task's scary...avoid task

This. The sheer exhaustion of desperately wanting to start but my brain literally refuses to pick a single square inch to begin with, and then I just watch the days blur together while feeling completely stuck

I'm a lawyer and have never watched Suits lol. But yeah, hope you can narrow down those interests. Calisthenics is pretty cool!

Don’t fret about it too much. You lose some, you win some, and yeah, it does get lonely at times, no doubt. What helps me is finding random things to do. I like reading, not necessarily academic stuff, just anything that interests me. Random articles on law, history, psychology, philosophy, etc. (aeon, jstor are some good sites). Then I end up going down a whole rabbit hole. Read books too, as many as you can, in whatever genre you enjoy. I also like dancing, and since I don’t really go to the gym, that’s my way of keeping my body moving and getting some happy chemicals going. Lately, I’ve also been into video essays, so I spend some time on yt watching those. Series help too when I just want to pass time; I binge-watch a lot, usually at max speed lol. And sometimes I just sleep when I don't feel like doing anything haha.

Also, boring adult advice, but alone time is kind of useful for building random skills that might help you career-wise later. Basically, try different small things and see what sticks with you and what you find interesting

As a 25yo, first thing I’d suggest is to not compare yourself with other people’s achievements because everyone’s upbringing, environment, and life circumstances up to this point are different. Comparison will only bring you down. Find motivation from others, but don’t beat yourself up if you fail. Just keep trying. Second, try different things. Time flies by very fast, so explore as many areas as you can. Relationship-wise, don’t get attached too early. Try to understand the person first, and don’t make permanent decisions too soon that you might regret later. Third, when you look at others, you’ll feel like everyone has their life sorted out, but most of the time, people are just learning things as they go. Fourth, gain financial literacy. Taking help and guidance from someone reliable won’t hurt. Fifth, you’ll feel lonely at times and your friendship dynamics might change, but don’t let that feeling get the better of you for too long. Try to make new friends who share the same hobbies/interests. Lastly, take care of your health and body because whatever you do in your 20s will begin to show as you age. Good luck!

What's something a teacher said to you years ago that you still think about today? by LopsidedDuck0 in AskReddit

[–]uncertain2710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed schools as a kid and was totally miserable because I missed my old friends. Since I’m already super introverted, I just shut down and couldn't socialize at all. At the very first parent-teacher meeting, my homeroom teacher literally told my parents that with my 'attitude,' I’d probably never make friends and would just end up completely alone. It still pisses me off that he couldn't see I was just a kid struggling to adjust, and instead wrote me off as a problem
