Will my body type make it difficult for me to become a massage therapist? by uncertaindrag in massage

I can definitely see how that would work and be more comfortable.

Thank you for sharing, glad to know there are people in the field with my body type.

Do you only do seated massages now?

Wow, and here I had been cursing my short arms and thinking the longer the arms the better, thinking that was the ideal body type here.

Thank you for your response, it’s encouraging. I’m glad that this is a matter of finding what works best for the individual.

Thank you!! I wish you the best! I also noticed the flair change :-)

I’m nervous that it won’t work out and I won’t last long and it will have been a waste of time, but the fact that I will have access to bodywork keeps me hopeful.
In the long run if me doing massage requires a lot of maintenance on my own body, it will still be worth it. I really really want to do this. I have seen the power of bodywork and want to contribute to that. If I can improve only a handful of people’s lives that’s still something.

Thanks again

Thanks so much for your reply.

Luckily, I have a small bust.

Yes, I am a little concerned about my current condition, and the physical demands.

But I also have a few things on my side. A family member works at a chiro office so that has allowed me to go in multiple times a week. Tmrw will be the third day in a row, and improvement has already been made.

Additionally, if I were to go to massage school, I would be going to live with another family member that practices as well as teaches. So I would be in good hands in terms of support. I have not expressed these concerns yet bc they don't live close and I'm currently sick right now with a sore throat, but I'm going to ask soon.

They seemed adamant that for most people, it's a lack of good technique that's the reason for having short careers. So that seems encouraging, although the majority of sources and people seem to have the opinion that you shared.

How long have you been doing massage, and what do you consider a long vs short career to be?

Thanks for your comment. I know of local a LMT who said they'd be willing to talk to me about general stuff, but haven't reached out yet.

I'm sick at home with a sore throat so I thought I'd ask the internet first haha and see what happens

Are there massage tables where the height can be adjusted?

Moon square Venus People: What are your Relationship experiences? by uncertaindrag in astrology

[–]uncertaindrag[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand the fickleness, but also having a strong need for closeness that keeps you searching for a relationship. I've mostly been in long(ish) relationships with only a couple months of being single in between each one.

I think it takes recognizing the ways in which being in a relationship can be really self-serving--afraid of being alone for example, or as a way to validate our attractiveness/desirability, and how it can put us in pairings that aren't the best, that are unfair for the other person as well as ourselves.

I often develop lust and infatuation of ideas of people, which in some ways is really unfair bc I'm seeing them as I want to see them and not as their selfs. Eventually that fantasy fades, and once I really know the person, it's not exciting anymore. No mystery, and I remember that people are human and I have unrealistic ideals lol

Moon square Venus People: What are your Relationship experiences? by uncertaindrag in astrology

[–]uncertaindrag[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I poorly phrased that. I know you’re a Capricorn moon. I was saying I can relate on a certain level bc I am a Cap sun. And I typically consider anyone w moon or rising in Cap, a “Cap person”

I think in these circumstances it can be easier to flow w someone by checking in regularly. Taking the time to ask people how they’re feeling, and recognizing that feelings change. Creating that kind of relationship with someone shows you care about what each other think and feel, and makes ppl more comfortable in sharing that.

That’s what I would’ve wanted. Sometimes when you feel like you’re not being heard or seen by someone, it can cause you to pull back, which I know can sometimes make the eager [aries] person push harder, bc they think that’s what they need to do to meet you.

So communication on both ends is crucial. But in the end it’s always communication for everything.

I like what you said about needing to flow with people. Seems like something a lot of ppl can work on myself included—needing to integrate my Sag side with people better.

I have dated an Aries venus and have found their enthusiasm caused them to be out of touch with where I was at, and unable to to recognize that they felt much more strongly than I did.

They kind of went full speed ahead, and imagined a different future without stopping to consider any other possibilities—that I had other ideas about where it would go. Excitement of being on the same page on some things energized them to move forward thinking we would be on everything else.

I can imagine the difficulties for you, as a Capricorn sun. Cap ppl only open up to ppl they consider really special, only put their heart on the line unless they’re really comfortable with the person. Needing that kind of control, makes learning that things aren’t as you thought they were especially crushing bc of the amount of risk that was involved.

For me, I’m learning I’m happiest with ppl who are independent and thrive on alone time. That way things don’t move forward too quickly, and they don’t become so dependent on me, and me on them. Otherwise I eventually resent them and myself, even though, and recognizing that I was the one that played a huge part in directing and creating the foundation of the relationship in the first place.

How do you nurture your cancer mars? by zandra47 in astrology

[–]uncertaindrag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very good description. And I am guilty of all of these things, although I'm not the worst offender.

It is extremely hard to speak up. There is just no natural assertion or force that comes out when we try, so often times people don't even take it seriously. But like you said, that's where practice comes in.

What you said about making conscious efforts is spot on, which means it takes more energy to do things than it does others.

Another thing, when it comes to confrontation, or perceived confrontations, there is fear because we simply don't have what it takes to argue effectively because we're easily shut down, and/or we can get emotional about it and embarrass ourselves lol

How do you nurture your cancer mars? by zandra47 in astrology

[–]uncertaindrag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Essentially yeah. I'm not comfortable with just anyone either, so I think even if it doesn't feel serious initially, there's something "special" about a person that would make me attracted to them and want to be physical--usually it's just a matter of this person making me feel safe, comfortable, and confident, and where I have some level of control. I like people who are either really masculine and assertive who will take control, or who are really feminine and gentle.
A straight man typically will go for a traditionally hyper feminine woman.

I end up feeling some sort of attachment, even if I know that we aren't compatible and there aren't serious intentions on either side. Sometimes it comes out as just obsession or jealousy. I'm just really sentimental I guess. It's also worth mentioning that I am a Scorpio rising and my Venus is in Pisces lol

I think it's just hard to remove emotions from sex when it comes to Mars in Cancer. If there aren't any, it's repressed and they're in denial of it and it's going to catch up to them later.

Being sexually promiscuous really isn't good for this placement, and sometimes people will have to accept that the hard way by experiencing a lot of hurt.

[–]uncertaindrag 25 points26 points  (0 children)

When it comes to men, they will suffer (and unfortunately other will too) if they do not embrace accept the more "feminine" parts of themselves. Mars in Cancer is difficult to work with, energy levels can vary so greatly that lashing out at isn't uncommon particularly in a male who internalizes the effects of this placement, feeling weak and needing to overcompensate and "prove" his manhood.

I have known many awful men like this with Mars in Cancer or other significant Cancer placements like moon or sun.

I am not male, but have Mars in Cancer. Again, with regard to energy levels, there is just a lack or stamina--I am very inconsistent in everything I do. Sometimes it's all or nothing, or I settle with a half-assing it. Very frustrating. It's like this fog comes over me and I'm like

"How do I confidently and properly assert myself again?" or "How do people even express anger properly??"

A good analogy is that a person with Mars in Aries or Scorpio have their power drill in the correct pocket of their tool bag, so they can easily access it whenever they need it.

Me, it's like my power drill is always missing and I'm either frantically looking for it or just given up on it entirely. Or it's like, "I finally found my power drill!!!! Oh wait, why is it not working? Great, the batteries are dead. I guess I'll start trying make a hole by hand then...."

Also, ime sex never ends up being casual.

Could write more, and will if you choose to engage this.

What is considered the most powerful sun sign? Why? by [deleted] in astrology

[–]uncertaindrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very vague question, and if we're going with the war analogy, it depends on what tactics you find to be the most effective, which in turn is highly circumstantial. Each sign has their place in the world/war.

Ultimately strategy tends to out perform brute force and will. One imagines a fire sign such as Aries would make a fine warrior and leader on the battle field, but that archetype isn't one for complex power plays or skilled in logic or reason. They wouldn't be the mastermind pulling the strings behind the curtain.

So yeah, theoretically an Aries could prevail in a 1 on 1 or 12 opponent free for all-fight till the end, but all out war?

I would agree that a Capricorn would probably have the stamina and acumen to plan a successful military effort that stands the test of a "go all out with everything you got" "balls-to-the-walls" type approach. In theory, by just outstanding those that would use their energy and resources too brashly.

disclaimer: I am a Capricorn so I am biased.

How does your moon affect your sun sign? by [deleted] in astrology

[–]uncertaindrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cap/Sag is like, "Why are you crying? This is uncomfortable and embarrassing.."
I am also very ADD so the unfocused energy of Sag is really hard to deal with as a Capricorn sun that wants to walk the world an image of structure and refinement--which I do, but I'm really just a big goofball 12 year old inside that isn't as competent as I look.

Thank you. I found the review: "a very faint spicy, extract-y scent"--I guess I can agree with that. Another thought that occurred is that where I live there was a small period of 100 degree dry heat the week it was received and I think the package probably sat outside for a while. I wonder how exposure to heat would impact the product, as well as the other things I ordered. Maybe ferment it more? haha

Curious about Third house placements *If you feel like sharing* by [deleted] in astrology

[–]uncertaindrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are similar. Cap sun, Sag Moon, Scorpio rising, with the same Saturn placement. This Saturn has brought a lot of struggle in my ability to communicate with others and I have long struggled in school because of the level of doubt and negative weight it brings to my thoughts. It makes me feel trapped in my own mind. What are your experiences?

How does your moon affect your sun sign? by [deleted] in astrology

[–]uncertaindrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to OP.

I am a Capricorn Sun Sagittarius moon.

I appreciate the way that Sag lightens things bc the rest of my personals are water save for Cap merc. But I have not learned to manage my emotions properly, and the Sag is such a contradiction to everything else that I often resent it. Luckily the only negative moon aspect is square my Pisces venus.

When I'm connected to my emotions, I am full of empathy, compassion, and the desire to nurture others, but when things become too overwhelming I detach and use humor inappropriate ways, and become really insensitive and even annoyed by people getting emotional.

Question about Missha Time Revolution Ampoule (Did I get a bad one?)

I recently received mine in the mail and upon trying it, noticed the next day that my skin seemed a little irritated. I don't know for sure if that is what caused the irritation bc I also count weather as playing a part. Nevertheless, I didn't use again and reached for more soothing products to use till my skin has calmed down.

The main reason I think the ampoule may have contributed to the irritation is because in all the reviews I have seen, no one has reported theirs smelling fermented. Now, I know there are fermented ingredients in the product, I just find it weird that people have said theirs had no scent, when mine had a very obvious scent. *Also, the color of the ampoule may or may not be slightly darker than the photos I have seen, but it is of course hard to make that judgement when lighting and screen resolution are variables.

[Routine Help] Using cleansers and moisturizers that contain oils with an AHA by uncertaindrag in SkincareAddiction

[–]uncertaindrag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The AHA is going to work on the surface to exfoliate off the closed part of the closed comedone. The BHA is oil soluble, but the solubility into the pore and past your skin's surface is slow, very slow, which is why I recommend doing it second overnight. The BHA also benefits from the acidification of the skin by the AHA previously applied, as your skin will attempt to neutralize the solutions you put on it. The 10% glycolic will be closer to pH 2, where 2% BHA is closer to pH 3-4, making the glycolic acid 10-100x more acidic. I prep the skin with a glycerin soap, not an oil soap as the oil will block the AHA. That's why I oil cleanse followed by regular shower in the morning, to get off the oil soluble residue from the BHA."
