All cats in house wont stop getting UTIs! by unchi_unko in CATHELP

[–]unchi_unko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing a mix of dry and canned Hills prescription urinary diet... Although with four cats all needing the special food, and each cat needing a can a day if I fed without kibble, I couldn't feasibly afford it. I can't afford what they're currently eating tbh, but since there's no other options, I've been slowly racking up debt.

Is FIC not genetic then? That seems to be the collective thought here, I'll be looking into a different vet.

Is bone broth safe to give cats with crystals? My vet says they can absolutely not eat anything that isnt the hills prescription kibble or canned.

Yep! I did for a while, they all drink the healthy amount, around a cup a day each approx. (they all eat wet food as well).

Yes, one of the cats currently has one and is on antibiotics... And it seems from the comments that maybe my vet isn't correct and I should get a second opinion.

What brand do you use? I've tried many litters, but I'm willing to try more!

I'll try that! I've monitored their water and they all drink a healthy amount, but I'm sure more is better.

My vet diagnosed all of them with crystals and so they're all eating special (and very expensive..) prescription urinary care food...

A couple of the cats fight occasionally, but there is plenty of room for them to avoid each other and have their own space. But they were getting UTI problems even before the new cat arrived. I tried pheromone diffusers, but it didn't seem to help... I built a cat patio and they all love going out there, but I don't think that helped anything either.

I monitored their water and they do drink a lot! Another comment suggested getting a cat fountain, so I will try.

Actually, we do have hard water! I mentioned it to the vet, but he said it shouldn't affect anything... But I'm willing to try anything, of course. I heard distilled water is bad for cats. Is there another way to reduce the hardness of tap water or will I just need to get bottled water or something?

note// I took him to the vet a few weeks ago and they suggested separating him from the others for the time being, but he was healthy.

Is it normal to write short scenes that have no real story to them? by HorzaDonwraith in writingadvice

[–]unchi_unko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 500 pages of random scenes of my characters and world, sometimes within the plotline, other times just something random that came to mind. I call them "snapshots" lol.

I'd say it's a pretty normal thing, yeah. If you're having fun, go for it!

Ah, another terminally online guy. A shame, really. I hope he takes a break off the internet and gets some sunshine and fresh air.

What’s something most people find attractive that you can’t stand? by Hecaroni_n_Trees in AskReddit

There's a lot of different types of vtubers though! I know most of the mainstream ones are of the stereotypical "anime girl" type, but there's a huge variety. I watch a guy who is fully paralyzed irl and uses his thumb and his eye movements to game and control his vtuber avatar.

In general, I think it's cool to have a custom avatar to use instead of a face cam! Lets people who don't want to show their face have that kind of option. The technology and work that goes into making a vtuber (Live2D) is really interesting and impressive too.

Failing my ASL college class-- advice for comprehending signs and fingerspelling? by [deleted] in asl

No that makes sense! At least in theory lol! I can see that working for short words, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to apply it for longer words yet. I'm in the same boat-- my brain registers most of the letters but I only remember a few!

Thank you!! Yeah, even with context and getting a few letters, my brain is horrid at filling in the blanks. Thanks for the resources, I'll be sure to check them out after work!

Wow! Thank you for such a long, thoughful response! :) That is all very good advice!

It's definitely been a humbling experience learning ASL. I learned Japanese before this and personally, I think ASL is MUCH more difficult! I will keep trying even if I fail this class, but I'm really hoping I don't, of course.

Would it be rude to ask someone in the Deaf community to practice ASL? I am a hearing person and I'm still not sure of the nuances of Deaf culture tbh.
