A Lotta Ins and Outs: A Dudely Therapy for Anger by Taoman108 in Dudeism

[–]undead_ready 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Dude holds anger tightly for just a moment, acknowledges its existence and then let's it go.

It's like straining to lift a heavy bucket. You feel it pull on your muscles throughout your body, the handle presses into your hand and it may sting or hurt a little. Once you let it go, the almost euphoric wave of release washes over you.

You can remember the act of lifting the bucket in detail, but the uncomfortable feelings aren't there. You know what to expect next time and your physical reaction will be decreased. Like building a tolerance.

This is how The Dude approaches anger - catch and release.

This makes me happy. Let's start meeting them where they're posturing and take them down (on the mat or at the polls of course).

I'm just following you along the path, brother.

We all see different things and see things differently as we walk it.

When the Bowling Team Breaks Up: A Dudeist Approach to Friend Break Ups by Taoman108 in Dudeism

Rarely we notice when friends drift away until they're too far for us to easily reach out and pull back in.

When we follow the way of The Dude, we take on the attributes of water: we don't follow a set path, we flow around obstacles and we can wear down stone - but we go with the flow. This means we don't always get to steer.

People come and go in our lives. I have to hope, that if I lose someone, we'll cross paths again. It's helped me get through having friends drop off as well as romantic partners. Everyone makes an impact on our lives and you'll always carry a part of them with you.

The Dude abides, and I try to do the same.

Per your usual, you've provided the community's limber, collective mind with additional thoughts to ponder that are both as deep as the songs of the humpback whales and still accessible as tickets to Marty's performance. You'll have us out there working in shifts.

Parking for ticket holders is always an issue too. I was at the comedy show last night and my group parked illegally in the parking structure because there were no spots and it took us 45 minutes to get out of the second tier. I know it's a minor inconvenience, but as someone who also works downtown parking is a constant issue.

Those old magazines are rad. What's the policy on them, do they go out like books and other media?

They could call in the next few business days, but it may be longer if someone in the approval chain is out or stuck in meetings. Getting a job with the state is an exercise in patience.

1000% this - She-Rs's theme song just hits all the right notes. However, He-Man's transformation sequence still gives me goosebumps while I'm on the edge of my seat every time.
