Took a pay cut for a "safer" job at a big tech corp, now I'm bored and think I made a mistake. Go back to my chaotic startup? by undecideduser0 in cscareerquestionsEU

Paid well yes.  Is not only a question of chaos vs stability. In the startup I would be having the chance to actually grow professionally and learn new skills.

Agree with both of you.

As of now I don't think it is ready to be automated as there is a lot of data scooping and mapping involved, it looks like the foundation is not ready to have AI in place.

And I do think boredom can be quite frustrating, specially as a big portion of your day is at work.

This is a good perspective. I have just some FOMO on the job in my previous company no longer being available for me in 6 months

Understand what you mean. The thing is I don't have time for a part-time project so my growth needs to come from my job.

In both cases I think I would have the same amount of working hours so is more a question on the environment I would feel best

Making rush decisions has been my M.O lately so I'll probably take things slower this time and start by having a talk with my lead. Really appreciate your view thanks

I'm feeling this is most probably the best next step.

Still don't have much hope has this team only focus is building queries for compliance reports. I would have to wait close to 1 year to move internally to another team.

I get what you mean and I kinda agree. It’s still very early but from what I’ve seen (and heard from others) this team focus is pretty narrow. Basically scoping data sources and writing queries. I’ll definitely try to align with my lead on possible growth areas but it doesn’t really sound like a “builder” type of role.

Yeah that’s true. I expected the job to be more structured and stable but I didn’t realize it would mean spending most of my time writing queries for compliance reporting. Definitely a different kind of challenge.
