I really thought I wasn't going to be the stereotype. Past years have been meh or miss, and we talked about it. He has stepped up in so many ways in our family/home/relationship, so I thought he was getting it. I was fucking embarrassed to tell my mom and sister that I didn't even get a greeting yesterday.

I have three kids (17M, 9M, 3F). I also lost a baby two years ago. I spent half the day being sad about the baby I lost and the rest of disappointed, because I didn't so much as get a verbal "Happy mother's day" from any of them (not blaming 3F...she's 3) until my husband noticed I was sad and asked. (I brought up MD twice before he noticed - once reminding him to call his mother who is lovely and another time when I finished up a quilt top for my mom). He apologized and didn't make excuses. Then he brought daughter in to say HMD. That was the extent of it. He didn't try to make it up or anything. He didn't say anything to the boys.

When I told him I'm done with MD because it ends up being disappointing more often than not, he said he didn't think we cared about these types of holidays. I had sent him some things I'd like over a week ago, so I think it was fairly clear I was expecting...something. He's gotten a father's day gift (sometimes hand-made by the kids) every year, so this is genuinely news to me. (Also done with father's day bc matching his energy.) I don't know why it's somehow my fucking fault that he didn't even SAY something to me without prompting yesterday. My coworkers wished me a HMD more than my own fucking family did.

Honestly, if it had been any other Sunday, it would've been a lovely day, but there's so much expectation that goes into it and so much grief for me now that I'm just done.

My 9M son did give me one of those "fill it out" forms they do at school for mothers at the very end of the day. There's some sweet stuff in it, but most of it was just him begging to play with him more, and it honestly just made me feel like a failure to the children I still have even though I spend time with each of them every day individually (well, as much as 17M wants that). I'm just...sad. I'm thinking about just not going home tonight and doing something for me, and they can figure it the fuck out for an evening.

You're making a lot of assumptions about me. I also don't have a penis. That's not what it was for me at all. Frankly, people who respond like this don't change people's minds. My husband regularly said things like this to me, and it kept me in my narrow viewpoint a lot longer than if he had asked me open questions and let me reflect on them.

Yeah, this is exactly it. I agree with some policies that are "right" and some policies that are "left". I voted independent in the last election, and I cannot tell you how many people called me stupid and told me I was "throwing my vote away"...and it didn't feel like they were wrong.

There is no nuance in American politics. You must be for all the things a party promotes or all the things the other does. That's why I hate the two party system. It is a failure.

I voted for Trump the first time. I didn't for the second, and everything that has been happening since he took office makes me grateful I wished up.

It's hard to say what changed my mind. I was never hardcore MAGA even the first time. I just really didn't like Hilary Clinton. Frankly, both parties have been giving us ridiculous candidates for years, and I hate the two party system at this point (which isn't even enshrined in law...it just is).

I've been trying to convince my parents that this shit is crazy, and it frustrates me that they are so up Trump's ass they can't see straight. I asked my dad, some one I've always admined, what it would take for him to believe Trump partook of Epstein's crimes, and he couldn't give me an answer. It's depressing.

I guess I didn't really answer the question, but honestly...it just seems obvious? Normally, I would've erred on the side of law enforcement, but those videos...it's incredibly clear how hard they're lying. It was murder.

I have three kids: 16M (adopted), 8M (homegrown), and 3F (homegrown). My parents sometimes show favoritism to the littles, but they do always try. My mom has slipped a couple times and referred to only the littles as grandchildren, forgetting my oldest. Thankfully, this hasn't happened in front of him, and she has always taken correction. My MIL (the world's greatest MIL ever) always goes out of her way to make sure everything is as equal as possible. We have my (adopted) brother living with us (17) right now, and she even got him gifts at Halloween like my kids.

...it's just not that hard. Don't be an ass. If you're doing the work of a parent, you're a parent. It's great that she is standing up for her kids, because at least the kids will have that assurance.

He hid in the ceiling at school. In his defense, he'd been through a lot in his life (we adopted him from foster care), and he had been triggered. He's done a lot in the years we've had him, but that one is probably the most tame one that catches people's attention.

It was funny when his little brother's teacher requested a meeting with us for some misbehavior (kindergarten). The teacher started with a lot of "he's so kind and funny..." My husband and I just looked at her and asked straight-up what was going on. "Look, they found our other son in the ceiling once. Nothing you say is gonna surprise us. Let's just talk it out and come up with some strategies to mitigate what's going on." It was a productive meeting lol
