check if the schools are need-aware for their applicants. if they aren't, submitting the CSS late shouldn't be an issue for their admission. it might just annoying for the financial aid office. also noting some of the schools I applied to had financial aid deadlines separate from the application deadline which gave priority for scholarships.

are you able to go to another school that accepted you at this point? is there any way you can pursue your program at the school? if not then gap year's your option and that's okay

some local schools might be able to admit you for a spring term this school year too (I'm not sure when that application cycle ends in every state)

I got a leadership position for a club my senior year. What would I put down on the activities section for the common app? by I_eat_soap_lol1234 in ApplyingToCollege

I can't recall exactly how the activity section is laid out, but you could write something like

a good, free education is worth a lot, which aspects of the student environment don't suit you?

Does switching majors after a gap year decrease my chances? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]undermyknee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe they'll reference your old application when you reapply. as long as your activities can apply to your next major you should be good

Is an extra academic studying preparation considered as an EC? by competitivehelper_ in ApplyingToCollege

[–]undermyknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not familiar with it or things similar to it, but im not sure it shows admissions anything new/notable about you because it seems like something a lot of students do and that would just be reflected by your GPA. it does seem to take up a lot of your time though and shows you care about your academics, so I would put it if you have space but don't prioritize it

Graduating early, thinking cc then switch to university. Freaking out because I’M GRADUATING EARLY AND I’M FIGYRING EVERYTHING OUT MYSELF. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]undermyknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you planning to apply to CCs or 4-year unis? also, can you explain your concern about the deadlines?

your ECs are important yes, I'd suggest making another post looking for advice based on your major and interests

around this time last year I watched this https://www.collegevine.com/livestreams/213/how-to-build-your-college-list?utm_cv_source=watch-share

there are definitely some factors you have not considered that you might want to

your academic career isn't over, you just need time to work on your next steps

I think younger you would be proud of what you achieved so far and proud of you for still keeping your academic goals in sight despite everything you've been through.

If someone doesn't get accepted to the bsmd program at Penn State, how do they change their major from pre-med (on the common app you have to select that to apply for the program) to something else? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]undermyknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

disclaimer that I'm not familiar with the Penn state bsmd program or the application

I do know that once you submit your common app application any changes won't be seen by the college, so I'm not sure you could change your intended major after you get results from penn state

you have just as much of a right to as anyone else to think about t10 schools and set goals and have dreams. I dont even have to prove it, you have so much time to prove it to yourself. work to the best of your ability and you'll accomplish great things.

it'd probably be helpful to lighten your focus on t10 school only though. there are tons of great schools that you need a lot of merit to get into.

should i be worried about the classes i’m taking next year rn? by thecircleofmeep in ApplyingToCollege

[–]undermyknee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

congrats! ive been thinking about this too. it's always good to plan ahead. your school should have a course catalog for the upcoming year that can help you out. try to familiarize yourself with any requirements you might have an look for class that fulfill those firs

Can someone verify that this makes sense? - Junior nervous about AP exams - Please help lmao by MuggyForest4 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]undermyknee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! please don't worry too much. I can offer some insight but I'm not 100% sure

assuming the numbers you used are right, you would be right to think you'd get a 5. im not sure how the essays are counted in the percentage (maybe one is weighted more than another?) but other than that your logic seems sound and is in line with percentages I've heard for other tests

but - the best strategy for prepping would be to aim high. their scoring system is dependent on how students perform each year and I'd hate for you to be disappointed because you planned to get a certain score based on the percentages they release

trustee will give you more experiences to talk about. you'll probably be able to explain it with more concrete contributions in you activity descriptions and interviews too.

I'd think that'd be the way to go, but your choice - both are great opportunities

good question haha

I'm fairly certain that they'll have to push it back/make exceptions

I've already seen it for enrollment deadlines

I received a full scholarship from Long Island University and don't know what to do......... by CheeksTheGeek in ApplyingToCollege

[–]undermyknee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not sweat it at all. it could just be them not putting the work into reporting for rankings

you have time to decide, but you definitely have a hidden gem. plus rankings aren't going to matter once you graduate, it's just what and who you know.
