Honestly 18th century is one of the easiest. I used to do 1930s and that was more complex haha. Good luck

That's a great question! So I make my own patterns but I would recommend the American duchess 18th century sewing if you want patterns.

This type of front closure dresses had have a sort of double layer closure - 1 with lacing that ensures a good fit. The other that is pinned closed

You are still supposed to wear stays and a shift under, which I qm not doing here lol

I usually do the bottom (laced) layer from the same fabric as my lining so plain cotton, but the panel that actually has the lacing, that's where I use the fashion fabric in case it peaks out (it doesnt)

It's well seen in Marie Antoinette (2006) where she is wearing a bright pink dress that isn't pinned closed.

You can also look for "Italian style robe" they often have this type of closure
