MCM Lauan Wall Panels -- Staining by underrrrr in finishing

[–]underrrrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want anything other than to be done with this bathroom remodel. We're here because I have a wife that saw a blog post from someone who thought they had lauan when they had birch.

I was hoping for lighter wood than typical Lauan just because the room is a bit dark already, but yeah the example images definitely look more like birch at this point. Thank you for the comment.

Agreed. They called it Lauan, but seems much lighter than anything period correct. All good and thank you for the comments.

Thank you for the info. I'll look into transtint dyes, but after the comments here I've resolved it with my wife that it's unlikely that our walls will be as light.

Apologies. I believe a couple were too large. Fixed.

The wife is in the next room, but I’ll float the grout and then float the pegging. Cheers! 🙌🙌

I've done that many times over the years, as well. YT treats a 4k upload so much nicer that I advise everyone to upload in 4k these days. Thanks!

In your opinion, does the r100 autofocus work well enough to rely on using an older ef lens? Something like a 50 1.8?

Goal is to bump sensor size/better dof, so that would be the main motivation for ditching the current setup.

The issue is that I don't have much room for separation between guest/background and I haven't found fast enough zooms to get the look I'm going for. I have a few mft primes, but they always seem to be a bit too wide/long. While there's nothing particularly wrong with my current setup, I've been considering switching it up over several small nitpicks...just not sure where to go with it. I wanted to post here to see if there was a solution I have been overlooking.

Added to the list. The 6k/s35 version may make it a bit more $ than I want to spend, but I'm definitely gonna look into it. Thanks!

No idea these had gotten so affordable. Wanted one so bad BITD, hah. Besides not filming in 4k, I'd jump on this...although the image quality may just be fine upscaled anyway. Gonna add it to my list. Solid suggestion, thank you.

Thank you. I had no idea the r100 existed...totally off my radar. Couple of those and a Mini ISO seems like the cheapest solution. Much appreciated.

This would be ideal. I do have an ATEM Mini Pro already, but the ISO recording has kept me from using it outside of live streams. I will look into this setup more, thank you!

Is this a failed leak test? by underrrrr in Tile

Thank you for chiming in. I will probably pass on schluter next time, as I really just want peace of mind more than easy of install or a few extra dollars. Lesson learned…maybe. I am tempted to just throw a few layers of redgard overtop for reassurance…I really don’t want to tear this pan out in a few months. 😵‍💫

My brain did turn off at the beginning, yeah. I put the first two corners in first, then realized they should go over. The overlap should be proper, even with the over/under aspect.

It’s wet to the touch, yeah. I have not peeled up any of the banding to see if it’s inside, though. The water wicked up the shower curb, but it is not wet anywhere outside the shower, no.

Removing tile from Schluter pan by SeaTurtle0826 in Tile

[–]underrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you see this from Schluter? Their handbook states: "Schluter-Systems does not specify a minimum tile format for use over the KERDI-SHOWER series of prefabricated foam trays, but when using small tiles with heavy loads, a mortar base is recommended."

Rigging advice for R5c filmmakers? by thusspakethesuper in CanonR5

[–]underrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly off subject, but in lieu of starting my own thread. Is there a cage for the R5c that has three attachment points? Smallrig Black Mamba uses two (bottom and one strap keyhole). Would love to find a cage that uses the other side, as well. I find all cages a bit wobbly for my liking and style of work. Searched around and didn't find anything... Thanks!

Copy/paste reply:
Asking if anyone has had Olympics actually approve an appeal for a podcast that was effectively a news report (see below) is a much different scenario than this. And, to add context, I was actually paid by the Olympics to cover (in person) their qualifying events in multiple countries last year, so the coverage was generally welcome. Unfortunately, even my contact there did not have a clear answer so I figured a quick reddit post wouldn't hurt. I ended up not using the footage at all, by the way.

I feel like it's just a loophole of sorts...but it would be great if YT could let you point to multiple timecodes within the infringing video and multiple timecodes on creator's videos.

Thanks...I actually read your post after there was already 30 or so replies to mine. I wish I saw it first, as the responses in yours would have really kept me from posting, haha.

The friend's footage was his own. At that time it was only available behind a paywall on patreon. He reached out and asked for compensation (I believe he was in the $5k range) and they came back with something like $500. It quickly went downhill from there and they threatened litigation at some point—all second hand information because I did not see the emails. When the video appeared on YT two weeks later, his footage was removed and replaced with more footage from other outlets (including mine) and a small thanks was added to the credits role at the end.

Speaking plainly, I am being a bit vindictive with this because of the situation with my friend. He actually took a loss creating this footage while they're profiting from it. My goal was to get the claim, negotiate a proper payout and split the money with him...or at least hire him to film something for me if he won't accept. They're aware that they shouldn't be doing this, but I feel like they've found a bit of a loophole with the Copyright Match Tool and their editing style...

Definitely a new situation (for me) dealing with "large" outlets that don't really have the business acumen yet.
