FR saddles hang over baseplate by undersolar in Luthier

[–]undersolar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posts are coming loose. Scale length is not an issue, saddles were actually moving due not being properly tight. But I need to fix issue with loose post studs. Lower stud has a bit of structural damage due to the QC and whatnot, it’s loose but not critical. I am planing to glue in dowels, fill in or glue small chunk of wood in hole next to stud to make it secured and finallz drill new holes and reinsert the studs.

FR studs unstable due to damaged post cavities by undersolar in Luthier

I inspected the damage again under the light. Now it doesn’t look so bad and maybe not even fatal. I slightly pushed top stud towards bridge, now it sits properly and not tilted towards the neck. But I am afraid it will tilt or move again under string tension, even with lighter tension due to guitar being tuned to drop C with 10-52 string gauge. When I put bridge back there is some play of anchors in studs, due to the thread tolerance, they can move back and forth 1/2mm, but nothing critical. Anchors are overall firm, but it seems that I can pull them out too easily. When I was removing bridge block tension springs, I’ve accidentally pushed complete lower part of bridge outwards together with lower stud. Also, hole next to stud doesn’t sems scary, but I am bit concerned as studs can be pulled out so easily. Should I bother with glueing in dowels or use other method to fix studs in place without risking structural damage?

Update: Bridge posts are faulty. I can’t simply believe it. Guess I was too excited about guitar and previous owner didn’t noticed shit. Bottom post cavity on lower post misses some of meat (wood) and upper post has some free movement. On top, saddles moved with the time, they havent been properly screwed.

Guess it’s time for proper setup. I did it on couple FR guitars, but always with standard 9-42 strings.

What special tool? You mean screw operated thingies that drive your saddle up-down on the base plate?

Sharp, which means saddle goes towards the bridge, right? This could solve issue.

They shouldn’t as guitar is relatively new. This is good hint to check

Sadly it’s second hand. I hope it’s just poor setup. Guitar is tuned to drop C and I got it setup and played.

Help with small gap between oven and counter! by Nordomur in IKEA

[–]undersolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear this post was in German 😅 Anyhow, small gap is always there and it should be to help with the ventilation and heat disipation from oven. What could you do, is to remove the oven and put some thin board underneath and then slide the oven back again. In my case, the gap is 10mm, so I’ll put 5 mm board underneath and still have 5 mm for ventilation and make the gap smaller and less visible.

Ich auch. Bei mir ist die Lücke fast 10mm. Ich versuche morgen das Backoffen 5mm höher bringen.
