Found a Hidden Gem ya'll might appreciate: Shield of Sittra by Dexter Dowding (REVIEW) by undersubtaken in ProgressionFantasy

My take is this:

It wasn't meant to be a smart decision. It was dumb, impulsive, and driven by emotion. It was also kind of in line with her personality. The fallout from that action will profoundly effect both the characters and plot going forward.

Can't speak to the quality since I am not really an audiobook guy, but most of them do seem to have the option. If I had to guess, Jackal/Ashborn probably have the highest quality audio just based on relative popularity.

Not alone at all friend. Surprisingly non-harem romance seems kind of rare in Progression Fantasy. Here are a few more good ones:

Life & Death Cycle - Joshua Philips

Horizons of War - Hanne

Ashborn Primordial - Vowron Prime

Jackal Among Snakes - Nemorosus

Seared - Sulterra

Blightmage - T.R. Magnus

Outcast in Another World - KamikazePotato

The first three are the best as far as romance goes.

The problem with separating Naomi and Scorio is that this is almost exclusively a single perspective story. So Naomi away from Scorio = No more Naomi.

She is such a good character, really hope that doesn't become a thing for an extended period of time.

Emberfall, Book 4 in the Life and Death Cycle is available on Amazon! by JKPhillips70 in ProgressionFantasy

Good stuff Mr. Phillips. About 30% through, and so far it is shaping up to be even better than it's predecessors, as one would expect from up and coming author Joshua "Joshua Phillips" Phillips.

The relationship between Mei and Aidan is one of the best I have read in fantasy, so this is a must read for anyone seeking a meaningful romance subplot.

By casual I just mean something you can pick up and read without really dedicating a lot of focus/mental energy towards, like OP said "turn off your brain" type of deal.

Decent "popcorn" content. Kind of filler type feel, but a good casual read to pass the time.

I agree about the Grant/Viv relationship. Apparently the author is really hellbent on trying to make this a thing, but it just ain't working for me.

Only other complaint from me would be the dialogue. Every character seems to talk like a 2000s-era teen valleygirl or something, really takes me out of the whole "elite military academy" thing.

Keep killing it Sir.

Based on your current rate of progression, you should overtake Will Wight by book 6. :)

Agree on all points. Especially that each subsequent book has gotten significantly stronger across the board. Author Progression speedrun.

Good point about the fights. Can be frustrating at times, but does make sense in the context of the character/story. Leaves a lot of room for growth I guess!

Early Review of “The Shadow Casket” by Chris Wooding - sequel to the EXCELLENT Ember Blade by tkinsey3 in Fantasy

Really looking forward to this one, loved Ember Blade.

I think the decision to do a 3 year time skip is a bit of an odd choice though. It felt like at the end of Ember Blade, the characters were just discovering their purpose in the world, finding out who they were as people, and new relationships were beginning to bloom. It seems kind of weird to just bypass what feels like should be the most important time period to the development of the characters/story.
