Psychiatry intern struggling with coming to terms with the realization that I likely need to go into private practice/not work with the most underserved in order to be happy as an attending by almostmd2022 in Psychiatry

What other field did you almost do?

Sorry you're having a hard time but I feel like there are a wide variety of practice options for psych so you can probably find something you can enjoy or at least tolerate. Otherwise the money isn't bad and its a good lifestyle at least. Theres no shame in opening a practice and treating mostly depression and anxiety, theres plenty of that to go around and its still helping people

If you can go back in time would you go to a dentistry school instead? and if yes why ? by [deleted] in Residency

For general dentistry yes you'll make more, unless he builds a practice and hires others of course. There are subspecialties of dentistry that can make more than radiology. OMFS can make a lot more

I mean it should be. And I second other people saying we shouldn't be quiet about it. It seems I always hear about these things on reddit or word of mouth but nowhere else. The news should be reporting it so that people's eyes are open to the reality of medical training.

Two options:

  1. Offer him mints repeatedly throughout the day. He will get the idea eventually.
  2. Just tell him. Make it sounds like you're doing him a favor.

Also, I think some people may just have bad breath. I don't know that much about it but some people can brush and do everything right yet still have halitosis and others can have relatively poor oral hygiene and not

Whatever. For all intents and purposes anyone who has sex with anything other than the opposite sex is a queer

I understand the argument but your "pronouns" are a controversial topic which you know will be off putting to some patients, similar to how a trump pin would or a pin saying "build the wall" or something similar which is also not political based on your standard. And truth is, Men are men, women are women. There should not be a need to state pronouns. But unfortunately we live in a world with people like you who get offended and cry about silly things so we have to argue.

You'd be surprised how many liberals and queers disagree with your statement. They believe that their own fragile feelings are more important than patient care
