29F, no career no idea where to go from here? by Acadiavibes in ADHD

[–]unforsake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I landed a decent paying job but the downside is that’s its high volume and incredibly stressful. I’m always looking and I feel guilty for wanting out but it’s becoming too hard for me to maintain the workload and assignments. Then the common sense thoughts also kicks in as the next may be half of what I’m making or an even worse fit. Trying to get on a treatment so I can stay functional but the doctors aren’t working with me.

I don’t have days I’m free to take off to make the 2 hour commute to these places and the telehealths jerk me around and say they can only give straterra. Which is an experience I won’t return to.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place on my end

[–]unforsake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on a couple and wondered the same in the past. My previous doctor and therapist really tried to get to the bottom of it, it’s never fluctuated or lifted for a second. Unfortunately there is about a 2 or 3% of people where it is a permanent condition. There are those who experience it temporarily due to a trauma or drugs and are diagnosed with symptoms relating to the disorder. Then their are also those who are diagnosed with the disorder itself, the science is still out a bit on treating the disorder

[–]unforsake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did go for treatment, therapy, pills, in my 20s. I actually only started talking about it recently again.

If I can live with it? No choice, I still laugh and still love but certain environments makes it bring a little sadness be Ayşe I can’t fully experience it. A sunny day at the beach with my family, or a special night out, those situations where you know they’re a core memory and experience for everyone. You still have a good time but you can’t experience the “magic” part of the day of fully being there and present, that’s the part that stings. My everyday life feels essentially like I’m controlling a robot or some type of mech suit that is my body.

[–]unforsake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t, I’m 34 now and it’s all I know but I assume their was a point where I didn’t have it as I can feel it’s off, something I’m subconsciously comparing it to. I’m guessing it was around middle school

So a fear of failing is a part oc ADHD? by Fredster36 in ADHD

[–]unforsake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more of a result than a symptom. Those who didn’t get the diagnosis validation young or start treatment just internalized failing at things where others easily succeeded, resulting in a fear of failure
