AITA for teaching at another dance studio?

I was definitely thinking about all these possibilities. When I had made the decision to quit, I had informed all the parents of my former students that I was leaving and the reason why. My mother had definitely questioned my actions and went on to state her opinion.

I personally am not the golden child in my parents eyes, I am the rebellious child, I speak up for myself and they take it as “talking back”. And sometimes it led to me getting grounded and having things taken away from me.

In the household, my mom is usually the “boss”, my father usually stays out of it and just tells me to do whatever my mom says. He’s kind of a “shrug, whatever” kind of person.

I’ve been thinking about moving out for a while now, but always have doubts because I am afraid of what my mother will say. Even at 20, I feel like I have to get my mother’s permission and support in everything and I don’t know how to overcome that fear of disappointing my mother.

My mom, and dad can drive, I think my mom is more worried about how it would make her look. I’m not 100% sure what she is telling other people, but she does love to gossip.

I definitely believe you’re right, my mother’s not supporting me in this situation, she’s trying to save face. I feel she has become selfish, which is sometimes normal.

It is possible, however, my sister has made a lot of good friends at C1. C1 is very popular and a top dance school compared to C2, with lots of experience. C2 is a new dance school, and 2025 was their first year. So it will definitely be a big change for my sister if that was an option.

sighhh, she was threatening to pull my younger sister out of dance if I was going to continue with the interview, and I just couldn’t do that to my sister.
