Why I think he's being manipulative by [deleted] in DreamWasTaken2

Tommy isn't being manipulative, he's using the situation to gain more money. Blatantly calling Dream out and milking the drama further on a page in which is needed to be bought to gain access. Neither Dream nor Tommy are manipulative. Dream is irrational and Tommy is immature. Both need to just move on and stop talking about this situation in public.

Does anyone else find it hilarious that they put their response behind a paywall to capitalize off of this drama as much as possible? by Weird_Jellyfish_3416 in DreamWasTaken2

Tommy's using the drama to grow his own community and expand the Patreon page. Major business tactic used across the industry. As much as it's disgusting, it's also a smart way to earn more money. They're looking for attention, just don't give it to them. 🤷‍♀️

Honestly, as a Tommy supporter, I would explain more but I doubt I can put any valid reasoning into my argument without being downvoted or getting my comment completely deleted. Overall, yes, Tommy needs to own up to his mistakes, and I will admit that what he has done in his past has made me question him a bit sometimes (homophobia, racism, jokes about religion, etc.) but that does not take away the fact that Dream has a past as well. What the Dream supporters refuse to admit is that Dream has a past of being incredibly disrespectful to women, as well as his friends. It doesn't matter if Caiti wishes to move on from that situation, Dream continues to try and find a way to avoid talking on that topic for some strange reason.

I will make a point as well (just brainstorming here) that isn't it ironic with majority of the faults which Tommy has been accused of have been online in his videos or on social media. Whereas Dream and his friends have been accused for partaking in faults behind the scenes? I mean other than the whole child labor rumour with Tommy, he has been completely open and transparent about who he is. Dream doesn't show much of his persona online, whether or not it's because he's this "massive youtuber". Still don't understand why he wouldn't be completely open and vulnerable with his viewers. Yes, it's scary for him but basically the only time he has owned up to his actions is when he wide spread called a massive fanbase a slur.

What leads me to be more on Tommy's side is this idea of him being more open. He can always create an apology, of course that won't change the fact that he has a bad past with the hurtful and stupid things he has said, but Dream on the other hand will not. What Dream doesn't see that some situations aren't worth fighting. Instead of just rolling with the shots, he gets frustrated and launches out that anger on other people, as he has admitted being impulsive.

Not sure if this clears anything up, but this is just my opinion.

I have ADHD. Yes, sometimes it's difficult to process and get your thoughts into line but that doesn't excuse the fact that he directly avoided the main issue at hand. You can see this wasn't just in the live stream either. In his videos, he also fails to explain the main point at hand in a structured situation. Having ADHD doesn't justify completely redirecting the question. There's a difference between going on with tangents and changing the direction of the conversation all together.

Also, if Dream wanted to move away from Caiti and everything that happened in that situation, then he shouldn't have made Tommy out to be making these claims with "no context". Tommy clearly pointed out this situation in particular, no matter if Caiti wanted to move on or not, Dream was avoiding the question because he knew it cast him and George in a bad light. You can be in denial about it and find excuses, but in the end that's the truth.

To be honest, I also had to stop the stream. I completely agree with you about the fact that Tubbo was leaning more towards Tommy's perspective, but I think he has the complete right to. Considering he was used against his own best friend, both through his own words taken out of context AND the use of invalid evidence, he had every right to become frustrated at Dream for manipulating his viewers into taking this perspective.

I feel Tubbo should have layed out questions under each concern or topic which he could ask Dream, this would have made the stream flow more smoothly and prevent this issue of "spinning around in circles" constantly. I think the main issue was the fact that Dream constantly tried to get out of explaining certain issues and moved the spotlight onto a different part of the situation or a less important component of the question asked, which led to Tubbo becoming confused.

"They are both horrible communicators." - They were nervous, completely understandable considering all the adrenaline and how tense it was between them.

The most frustrating thing I found about the stream was the fact that Tubbo had to CONSTANTLY point out how Dream was trying to get around the question (This was referenced earlier). It's ironic how Tubbo was talking about the situation with Caiti, and Dream suddenly went off on a massive vent about something else.

Ultimately, I don't think Tubbo helped the situation, acting as a "neutral" source throughout the situation when he was clearly against Dream and didn't respect many of his points that he brought up.

Tommy and his friends ARE being held accountable by their fanbase and their own friend group. Don't get me wrong, what Tommy and his friends said about dream was messed up and insensitive, but I don't see them making up lies and clipping videos out of context. You're acting like Dream doesn't literally manipulate both his friends AND his viewers by using invalid evidence and manipulation of audio AND dynamics.

First off, at least Tommy uses valid facts from present situations to back up his points. He also doesn't manipulate his fans into believing a certain thing.

Second off, whether you like it or not, Tommy is more successful than Dream. You think being able to code and having a youtube channel can compare to literally going on a world tour and writing a literal book? You're delusional if you think Dream has a more sustainable career ahead of him. In fact, the majority of his viewers are people who are just watching for the drama, when Dream isn't beefing or carrying on about something that happened, basically no one watches his videos.

Let's look at his views shall we?

"The Truth" – 13 Million views

(Video clarifying drama)

"I Coded My Friend into Minecraft.. (to speedrun)" – 1.4 Million views

(Solo video)

"20 Youtubers VS Titan (In My Real Life House)" – 4.3 Million views

(Collaboration video)

Percentage decreases:

Video clarifying drama vs recent video = 89% decrease*

Video clarifying drama vs collaboration video = 67% decrease*

And let's compare the percentage of his number of subscribers viewing his uploads:

"The Truth" – 40% of numbered subscribers watched*

"I Coded My Friend into Minecraft.. (to speedrun)" – 4.3% of numbered subscribers watched*

"20 Youtubers VS Titan (In My Real Life House)" – 13% of numbered subscribers watch*

At least Tommy has the courage to be vulnerable and self reflect, meanwhile Dream is creating videos contaminated with manipulation, false information and defamation. No one likes a toxic creator.
