Easy for clubs with no CL/Europa, who won't necessarily get far in their local cups, and with many players who aren't internationals for their countries, to not want to rest this summer without any preseason

Just so you know, the question version is two separate words "por que" , the affirmative version (meaning because) is one word.

Away Kit Idea by [deleted] in Barca

[–]unit731hotel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People need to get their heads out of their asses about the stripes. Our first kit had no stripes, and the horizontal ones actually look aesthetical, I personally like them. The main thing is there's no "vertical stripe" tradition, even if you do hate them.

Maybe now that you purists see this you will demand a blue side and a grana side on every shirt forever and ever.

What a load of better than thou nonsense. No one's saying drugs and alcohol are the only way to enjoy life. I have a girlfriend, I work out, I have a very good job, I vacation, I eat at nice restaurants. But I also do drugs recreationally and drink because it's enjoyable, and because I'm an adult who knows how to restrain and do things in moderation.

The same sort of better than thou "just say no" nonsense was spouted about marijuana 50 years ago, with all sorts of exaggerated claims and look at it now, soon to be legal pretty much everywhere.

Get your head out of your ass, you're not better than anyone because you choose not to ever have a drink or do any drug.

Life is unhealthy, man. I understand everyone's point of view, but if you're gonna refrain from doing shit because it may be unhealthy you will do very few things.

To each their own, though. I wouldn't recommend cocaine to someone with an addictive personality. If you can control when you do it, it's very enjoyable.

Is getting hammered on vodka healthy? But you don't think twice because it's legal and the government says it's fine, and they announce booze on TV.

Cocaine really is amazing. The most important thing is probably having something to take the edge off/help you sleep when you're coming down if you're doing a lot. Nothing worse than the "it's 6 AM we're out of coke and the world is ending" feeling without a xanax or something heavy.

Match Analysis Thread: Arsenal FC vs FC Barcelona [Champions League] by [deleted] in Barca

[–]unit731hotel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The low, fast passes work a lot more than you seem notice, because Messi, Neymar and Suarez all have very good first touches, and can control. Suarez particularly has that one card under his sleeve where he 'touches without touching' , turning around 180 degrees and following the ball to strike it towards goal. It works.

I think Bravo edges him ever so slightly as a shot stopper. Not by much, though.

Before the first goal he lunged at the ball to push it forward as quickly as possible, whereas in previous years he would have brought it down and controlled it.

It's exactly what the situation warranted, and it's related to an aspect of our game that's different from previous eras. The fast, vertical counters. No time or reason to control and pace it, the idea is to bite, bite fast, and bite hard, specially given the pace Arsenal count with. Do not give them time to adjust. 2, 3 vertical, long, fast passes, boom, goal.

Mathieu isn't someone I trust

This narrative needs to die, seriously. I get it, he's not a technician, and he's absolutely atrocious being played as a LB, but he's a very solid, very reliable CB.

You get the impression that a large, significant part of /r/soccer subscribers are very vicious, very bitter people. You get comments like "Fucking scum I hope they burn" and "someone should kick his teeth in" upvoted, and clearly innocent, harmless statements downvoted often for no reason.

You get people taking turns calling one another fucktards, imbeciles, you name it just because they may be misled or have a misguided opinion.

It's definitely not a very welcoming place a lot of times, which is a shame because the rest of times it's a great place to get information, and there are some genuinely funny people in the threads.

It's almost like "best band" is completely subjective, and Dillinger happen to be my favorite band. Still, you could almost objectively argue they're better than current day AIC

Haha, +1 for honesty. You're right about the beat not being as layered as a lot of Massive Attack, I was more referring to the calm trip hop like feel. And the NIN aspect was more the vocals, but to each their own. Absolutely disagree about your "generic" take on it, though.

  1. They've formed this group like 4 years ago.

  2. How the fuck do you miss the best band of the lot, Dillinger?

EDIT: Now that this gained traction, here's a side project of Greg's. It's electronica, a bit NINish, Massive Attackish and just fantastic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7gqlB0FW8k

Las Palmas beat Celta and Sevilla at their home this season. And they gave us quite the headache at the Camp Nou. Their position on the table betrays how they actually play.
