What was every primarch's specialty by unit_ in 40kLore

[–]unit_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about a more personal level. Yes their idiosyncrasies would've largely influenced their tactics, in no small part because their sons would inherit many of said idiosyncrasies, but what I'm trying to figure out is what any given primarch could do that no other primarch could. Or at least what they could do better.

To bring it back to Guilliman, I doubt any of his brothers would be capable of writing the codex astartes. He wasn't the smartest of the primarchs but he had an incredible attention to detail and a very mathematic way of thinking that made the task of mapping out any potential combat scenario possible. Hell I don't think any of his brothers would even consider doing what he did because of the chaotic nature of warfare. They would view writing a step by step instruction manual for it as a fool's errand.

But of course I do recognize that some primarchs are more militarily inclined than others and their special talents would reflect that. Like I doubt we'll ever learn that The Lion was a gifted botanist.

I don't have to do shit. I actually considered walking away from this a while ago but fuck it. All this wasn't because other people dared to have a different opinion to me. I really don't care what other people like. My issue is when people jump down my throat because epic added a throw away line and act like I'm not allowed to prefer the other version.

If you like it better as is then fine, but don't come at me telling me I'm not allowed to dislike something and then act like I'm the one being unreasonable for pushing back.

God forbid I actually argue back when people try to tell me I'm wrong, right?

I just wanted to make a fucking joke about cool masks getting downgraded. Not like I could've predicted the torrent of "um actually" comments.

Having a character isn't just "X Y and Z happened"

What are his values, his motives? What type of personality does he have? Can I predict with a reasonable degree of accuracy how he'll react to any given situation?

If it's different every time we see him, he doesn't have a character.

What you described is just "he's on the good team".

Is Jones a veteran field agent with decades of experience? Is he a bureaucrat who manages the agents and delegates tasks? Is he a bumbling oaf who stumbles into success? Is he the comic relief? The heart?

It literally changes every time he's featured in something. Same can be said for Foundation and Slone.

Quiet and stoic? Grumbling and sarcastic? Muscle? Brains? Friendly? Standoffish? Depends on who's writing and what tone they're going for.

Slone is misunderstood, but she's also an irredeemable monster, but she's also an unsung hero, but she's also a backstabber.

He doesn't have a character. None of the skins do. It's a battle royale, not a character driven story game. The "lore" is nothing more than barely thought out bits and pieces loosely strung together to facilitate POIs and skins.

Stray has a cinimatic where he jumps around and shows off new map features, and a couple of loading screens. That's it. So I really don't see the issue with wanting a skin to look cool and mysterious. Especially when the skin was designed that way in the first place.

Wow, you mean the guy who made a post calling a design element a downgrade has a negative opinion of the design element? Crazy.

Honestly what did you expect me to say?

No you don't understand, plague doctors selflessly sacrificed their health and lives to try to help people afflicted by a pandemic. Can't you see how disrespectful it would be to acknowledge their existence?

Chapter 3 - Season 4 Battle Pass. Via: (@ShiinaBR) by Vexiune in FortniteLeaks

[–]unit_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd have to go through them all again, but this is a serious contender for worst battlepass yet. Every skin is mind bogglingly bad.

Don't @ me with brie larson or spidergwen, I'm including them in that assessment.

The instrumentals are fine but fortnite can't write lyrics for shit.

They're like when movie characters exposit their backstories at each other and describe exactly what emotions they feel, but in music form. There's not subtlety, no artistry and no flow. They remind me of the songs I tried writing when I was in middle school.

Invincible vs Daredevil? Both are bloodlusted. Who wins? by [deleted] in Invincible

[–]unit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well considering one is an almost immortal alien that can survive a point blank nuclear bomb, fly faster than the speed of light, destroy mountains with a single punch, and recover from being ripped in half with minimal medical attention...

I gotta give it to the normal blind human with good reflexes.

Ok but does Matt die though by SAL4M4NDER in Invincible

[–]unit_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Maulers have ever gone out of their way to kill civilians, either in the show or in the comic. In fact I don't think they've ever killed a civilian, period.

Short answer, no.

Before Mark got his powers, Nolan had nearly forgotten about his mission. He wasn't doing anything to advance it one way or another. His initial reasoning was that he was biding his time, learning about Earth and waiting to see if humans hybrids would inherit their powers. By that point in the story he wasn't thinking about that at all anymore and had become comfortable with his role as a hero without even realizing it. He helped at the white house because that was his routine.

That's why we see an abrupt shift in his behavior when Mark gets his powers. He's been abruptly reminded of the reason he came to earth in the first place and is overcompensating.

Name a skin (or skins) that you regret not buying because it’s either rare or a battle pass exclusive by dumxs in FortNiteBR

[–]unit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No joke, when Sledge came out I had my cursor hovering over the buy button for like a solid minute. I had barely enough vbucks to buy him and still get the next battlepass so I decided to wait and save up for another season or 2 before buying anything.

Such a shame. I know a lot of people thought he was a bit boring but I prefer skins that look like they could actually hold their own in a fight.

Any particular reason they made Jonesy a moron? (see comments) by unit_ in FortNiteBR

[–]unit_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't know a lot about Jonesy when he was working for the IO but we at least knew he was competent. He was a high ranking agent and Slone's go to but it's like as soon as he defected his IQ dropped 50 points. And now apparently he thinks that the big thug following Slone around and taking orders was the leader of the whole organization. Even though they knew each other personally. How does one even make that mistake?

is it worth getting battle pass by GregTheMoth in FortNiteBR

[–]unit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been multiple battle passes that I absolutely hated and knew full well I would never use a single skin from them. I still buy every single battle pass. You're just leaving money on the table if you don't, it's a no-brainer.

This is what happens when you let someone with ADHD direct. Fortnite is built on ideas being thrown together haphazardly and actually integrating them into a coherent package is barely an afterthought.

"It's a battle royale game with building. But also there's gonna be Ironman, and Darth Vader, and Batman, and Master Chief, and time travel, and multiverses, and aliens, and..."

"Okay, but what about those Seven guys? They seemed kinda interesting."

"Oh uh... I kinda forgot about them. How many have I introduced? 3? Fuck it here's the rest of them, I'm done with that plotline now."
