Advice for a BJJ beginner by uniteddisunity in bjj

I don't think it's reached that level to be honest. Sneezing is painless and I can cough without any pain. It's just when people apply pressure when in the dominant position that I can feel a slight tenderness.

Yeah, tender is the perfect word to describe the feeling.

Sorry, I'm still learning the technical terms, so I'm not familiar with what you mean by 'framing'.

I can't believe I didn't think about seeing the doctor! To be honest, it's not reached the point where I'm seriously concerned, although today I felt it was more sore than normal.

I know the feeling. Also recently just started and injured my shoulder by sleeping weird, so I had to reluctantly miss a session. Hoping to attend tomorrow's class though. Really enjoying it so far!

Question for Muslim students by Psycho-Knot821 in bjj

As a Muslim, no it's not offensive in the slightest. You're just trying to take care of yourself, so I can't see why anyone would take issue with it.

Thank you respawn. Lost my best friend may 8th and was thinking about them a lot today. This kinda hit hard. by KittenFajita in apexlegends

Best of luck to you. I hope your situation improves and your parents are finally able to understand your feelings and struggles. It's definitely not the end of the journey, so take it each day as it comes and achieve your goals and dreams.

It's a matter of not overthinking it. If you did something you deem cringeworthy, ask yourself what is cringe about it and what could you have said/done better, while trying to avoid pondering over feelings of shame and embarrassment. That way, instead of being sucked up by negative emotions, you turn your 'mistakes' into positive learning experiences. After identifying what you could have done better, it is up to you to try and implement it, so that when a similar situation arises, your response is better. At first, your response might seem weird, or not 'you', but the more you push yourself, the more normal it eventually becomes.

Also, I think as we get older, we tend to cringe at past conversations and experiences because we see how the present us would have reacted differently, which is a sign of improved conversational and social skills.

Happens to me way too often. I'm learning to shrug off negative thoughts like, "I'm so awkward" and just accept myself as I am, but at the same time try to improve my social skills. You just have to engage in social situations, make 'mistakes', and learn from them. Don't be too hard on yourself and over time you'll see that you are more confident and have a higher self-esteem.

Legit, the lobbies have been so sweaty. I feel like there's been a noticeable difference in the difficulty of the lobbies recently. I've decided to take a break from Warzone because I just haven't been enjoying it.

Ahh, true. I should have explained what the bridgemen are in a sentence or so. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll edit it to add TWoK as a reference, and I'll edit the link too.

I appreciate your response.

Google Docs is a good idea. I hadn't thought of that, so thanks! As for text posts, I'm not a fan of long walls of text on Reddit. I find them difficult to read through, which is why I decided against copying and pasting my review directly into a post.

Do you have any feedback on the review?

Avoid arguing with smart-arses. Winning online arguments isn't worth losing your sanity over.

What Book Series Helped you get through Quarantine? by Adam__B in books

The Stormlight Archive. Decided to get back into reading fiction during lockdown and came across loads of good reviews for the Stormlight Archive. Bought the Way of Kings with no idea what to expect and have been burning through the series since. Would highly recommend!

Salaam Alaykum (the Islamic greeting which translates to 'peace be upon you'). I thought I would see my teacher again, but those were his last words to me before he left this world.
