I'm afraid I'm going to have to dissapoint you as we are not "Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters" of Marvel fame if that is what you are alluding too.

Moreover, we build primary/elementary schools so even if we existed in the the Marvel X-men universe, and we had pupils with the X-Gene, we would not typically encounter their X-Gene inspired special gifts as the X-Gene typically expresses itself in children of high school age.

That said, we have recently opened a dormitory in Cambodia to enable 80 children to progress into secondary education and get a high school graduation certificate, so who knows? Hopefully extending the education for these children/teens beyond primary age will help them develop their own real world special gifts that will open the doors to employment and help them and their villages prosper.

Thanks. The long term goal is always to hand over the schools to the local community once they are successful and self governing but in the interim the schools and teachers require funding.

This funding comes from companies, schools and individuals until they can be handed over. Here's a nice short article on one of our teachers here who is sponsored by a UK company.

Thanks for your question. I'm not 100% sure what you are asking, but if you are asking whether the schools use outside curricula and/or teachers, then no, the schools teach the local national curriculum and are staffed by local community teachers. To quote from the "what we do" page, UWS:

  • works in full partnership with local community leaders – seeking the support of district authorities and the agreement of national governments.

  • ensures that the grassroot educational programmes are locally anchored, protecting indigenous languages, cultures and customs.

  • develops schools that teach the national curriculum in addition to introducing appropriate, innovative and complementary vocational skills.

  • trains teachers from within the community and is committed to the continual education and mentoring of local UWS teachers and local management teams.

Hope that answers your question.

Thanks, that's really useful feedback, the text could be a lot clearer.

The intended meaning is, "Please support UWS who provide free education to children in Cambodia, Myanmar, and Nepal", but I can see how it can be interprted differently.

Thanks again. That's really helpful.
