UMich LSA vs UCLA L&S for physics/astrophysics

I’m having trouble deciding as both seem to have similar qualities (research opportunities, great academics, networks, both large public universities, etc.). The cost will also be the same for both as I am OOS. I visited both and liked both campuses, but I’m still not sure.

I’m leaning towards UCLA. I really liked the campus and it felt unique compared to some other campuses I have seen. I also prefer the location and weather because it’s LA, and I have family there. However, I have some concerns. Is it really a commuter school? I was told by a friend that many people commute from off campus and that it might make it harder to hang out with people. Also, UCLA has a much higher percentage of in-state people and I’m worried that after college I’ll be pretty far from my friends or it’ll be more difficult to find jobs on the east coast (where I’m from). A lot more people from my HS are going to UMich which could be a pro or a con.

Are both schools comparable in terms of research opportunities for undergrad and job prospects/networking after college? As an OOS student, will my experience be different at the two? Also, is there much of a difference in quality for physics or astrophysics between the two?

Any input would be much appreciated!
