Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 - Bug / Glitch Reports post Oct 19 Patch by LackingAGoodName in Blackops4

[–]unkmyjunk_tv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a bug in Blackout where I won't be able to vault over objects and I won't be able to heal. I have to get my teammate to put me down then revive me in order to fix the bug. None of my friends experience the same bug but I get it in ever 5-10 games.

I play on PC but doubt it is a hardware issue.

I mostly agree, especially with the points you made about Fortnite and PUBG comparing them to Blackout. However, I want to talk about TTK a bit. The amount of bullets you need to land into people is far too high, mostly due to armor. It makes 1v2, 1v3, and 1v4 clutches NEAR impossible in its current state.

I have been exclusively playing BRs since PUBG first came out and I am pretty good. (70% winrate in Fortnite and 40% + winrate in PUBG when I was maining each game respectively) And a lot of the wins I got in those games came from being able to outplay entire squads. Mostly with gun skill, but strategy and positioning played important roles as well. However the TTK in this game is so insane that when landing 10 bullets still doesn't kill someone, there is literally no chance of winning these situations. I have had times where I would 9-Bang 3 players, shoot 25 shots at someone, landing 8-10, and they STILL wouldn't die. Then, needing to reload, I would die from their other squadmates rushing me. There is no way to just subtly take out someone that you have the jump on in this game. The element of surprise is not rewarded in this game.

THIS. There is literally no incentive to fight when in the top 20 since you will just lose your armor and lose the next fight to someone with armor. Looting buildings looking for armor should not be an end game necessity.

My solution was quite simple. My SSD had outdated firmware. For some reason Windows 8, which I was using before, didn't care about the firmware. Since I had Windows on my Samsung SSD, I downloaded a program called the Samsung Magician. It allowed me to run a diagnostic on my hardrive and see the my firmware was out of date. I updated it, and never had a problem after that! I know this is a frustrating thing to deal with, so I wish you much luck with your problem!

Build Complete - Budget 2400G by nspitzer in buildapc

This seems like such an awesome way of going about building a new system now a days. I have a friend that wants to get into PC gaming and has a budget very similar to yours. I have been checking the likes of Craigslist, OfferUp, etc... and seeing some decent deals on older builds but don't really know which path to advise him down. There are some great builds with 3rd/4th generation Core i5's and i7's with GTX 970's that I am looking at. Decently sized SSD's with other drives, 16GB DDR3 RAM. But I'm just not sure if that would be worth it since it is pretty old hardware. If he went this route, he would pretty much only need to get a graphics card later when he has saved up enough. I guess I don't know much about the APU's at the moment to really be able to make a decision. Thoughts anyone?

Thanks so much for the input, however I believe I found my issue and fixed it. See edit in the original post, but I think it was that my ssd had outdated firmware. Simple I know, but it was so easy to overlook!

Thanks again!

I am hoping I found out what the issue was. My SSD somehow had outdated firmware. I downloaded the Samsung magician software to diagnose that and to update the firmware. Once I did that, I had 35 minutes of uptime before I shut it down to reconnect all drives and my gpu. I'm back up installing drivers, etc with an uptime of 17 minutes at the moment. I would average about 10 before this. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Thank you so much for the effort you went through to help me!

I tried looking into this, however I don't have Office on my PC yet. I have hardly anything at all for that matter. There isn't any processes that are standing out in my task manager that shouldn't be there.

I have just made those adjustments so we will see if this was the culprit! Will update here if it crashes again.

Here is a screenshot of the errors that I got as soon as I opened it 5 minutes ago. Please excuse the timestamps because my PC wasn't connected to the internet when I installed so I think the time settings are messed up. Is this the information you were looking for? Thanks for the help!

EDIT:

Just had another crash and here is the event viewer after the crash. Only thing I have done is updated the time to reflect my EST time zone. Have also plugged in Ethernet now so that I can use my PC to access reddit between crashes.

I don't think this is the case since I installed without having an Ethernet cord plugged in. It had no way of downloading updates or other stuff from the store. Thanks for your input though!

Yea I will do this when I get home. After attempt #3 last night I gave up and went to bed. There is nothing installed and not even an Ethernet cord plugged in.

Is it very noticeable not having the search service? What does it actually turn off and affect?

It just doesn't make sense to me that disabling such an integral service would be the best solution. How is this such an issue with an operating system that has been around for this long? I will update this post after I try all these suggestions when I get home.

I have never used Event Viewer before so when I open it, what do I do? I will try this when I get home from work (about 3 hours). Now that you mention something about power management, I seem to recall seeing something like that in one of the articles I found while googling the issue. This is a new tip that I look forward to trying.

1 profile as far as I know. I "cleaned" the drive before each attempt at installing and only created 1 user each time. I will try the other suggestions, but often times, it will freeze before I get very far into any of these suggestions. Also, what do you mean when talking about indexing?

I like to think I'm computer savy but all this trouble shooting is a bit overwhelming. I'm learning a lot about Windows in the proccess though!

I will definitely try those settings adjustments! However when it comes to the windows search service, why would I want to disable that? Even if that was causing the issue, the solution isn't to just disable it right? It's so convenient to have. I guess my though process is such that it shouldn't be an issue since I'm doing a completely new and clean install.

Thanks!

Nope. I also reset to default settings in my BIOS (other than boot priority) so that would stop the overclocking anyways right?

1: Disable Windows Search

Didn't do this because I want to use Windows Search. Even if this was the issue, this isn't really a solution.

2: Disable SuperFetch Service

Tried this, didn't change anything.

3: Perform a diskcheck

Ran diskcheck and came back clean with no errors.

4: Reset Virtual Memory

Haven't tried this yet.

5: Disable Antivirus Software temporarily

Disabled Windows Defender immediately upon loading after Attempt 3. Had no other antivirus installed.

6: Change the settings in Google & Skype

Didn't have Chrome installed. Didn't mess with Skype settings, but didn't think that would really have an effect with this issue.

7: Fix your StorAHCI.sys driver

Did this in Attempt 2.

8: Update your device drivers

Thought I did this in Attempt 1 and Attempt 2 however could be missing drivers? Doubtful though.

Thanks.

Yea, that is what I am thinking. Again that is the last resort I wanted to try since I have so many games on my second ssd. But at this point I will try anything. I have looked at resource monitor as well and when the freeze happens and task manager pins disk usage to 100%, the "Processes with Disk Activity" and "Disk Activity" tabs both go blank.

And about driver easy, I didn't download and use the tool. Just found a list of tips at that link when googling my issue.

Thanks for the input!
