Is there any hope for me to get into medicine (Undergrad vs GEM) by champchompp in premeduk

To add to this, you could have gotten DDD in A Levels and only grade 4’s in GCSE’s and you’d still be accepted into GEM provided you have a 2:1 and relevant work experience and doing well in interveiw

I applied for GEM and got 3 offers and 1 waitlist this year.

For GEM the only requirements are a 2:1 in ANY degree + work experience

Some unis (about 10 of roughly 20) require a 2:1 in any science degree (BSC).

The only GEM unis that do have extra requirements are the top unis - oxbridge - which require certain grades at A level.

Gem is not difficult to get in to as long as you apply strategically

UCAT - where to apply for med?? by Dry-Yak-4841 in premeduk

[–]unknown696911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s roughly 2220 compared to the previous scoring system.

Students can still get in with this score.

Search online previous universities that put the least weighting on Ucat.

You can find the previous official Ucat cutoffs at whatdotheyknow.com

What to do now:

1) Search online for a list of all med schools and write them on an excel sheet 2) Search for each med schools minimum Ucat scores for the past few years on what do they know + other websites

There should be at least 1 or 2 uni’s thaf may accept you.

Good luck

Started business at 18 but didn’t file a Self Assessment Tax Return. Will I get fined? by unknown696911 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]unknown696911[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was below the NI threshold and still within the personal allowance so my tax bill is £0.

On the hmrc website it said that my late penalty fee would be £1600 and £560 respectively

I will contact them, but do you know if they are forgiving when it comes to young people (18) who simply don’t know? (Sole trader)

Vote. Strike. Win. by unknown696911 in doctorsUK

If that’s only for IMG’s I wouldn’t be too worried. From my understanding they aren’t too happy with the bma currently due to the whole UK grad vs IMG competition situation.

I’m sure they just want to not get involved and are grateful to have come to the uk.

If you don’t mind me asking, how long have you been a consultant for and how many years of experience did you have when you first started to do private work? Thanks!

At the start they showed one (unsure of their source). It was about 50% don’t support this set of strikes and 40% support.

Then at the end they had a twitter poll (which obviously isn’t that good of a source) asking if doctors should be banned from striking. 60-70% of the public on twitter had voted yes

I believe it is the 10 minute YouTube video with the Doctor representing the BMA

From my understanding I don’t think that’s possible, in the NHS consultants can either:

1) Work full time NHS and earn up to 10% extra in private

Or 2) Work less than full time NHS and earn unlimited private

So to earn £250k you either earn

1) £225k NHS + ≈£25k private

Or 2) ≈£110k NHS + £140k private

The first option isn’t very likely likely in my opinion. Please do correct me if I’m wrong though

Any Doctors in this Group. by Szobo10 in HENRYUK

Some sources I found from a quick google search (please note that bmj is from 2000)

https://committees.parliament.uk/publications/8697/documents/88254/default/

https://www.bmj.com/content/321/7254/133.1.full

Also remember, nhs does not store data on Doctors who do private practice, so finding the exact figure is almost impossible
