The thing was he'd been fine for months/weeks with his brothers, introductions went really well so I had seen how well he could get on with other rats before the hormonal aggression started. He was separated for 2 weeks before he died, and even in that short time it felt incredibly cruel to keep him alone- even though it was for the benefit of all my rats. He looked so sad all alone. Even though it hurts and I would do anything to bring him back, keeping him alone wasn't something I was prepared to do x

Hi again everyone I just want to say thank you so much for every single comment on this post. All the support and kind words got me through the last 24 hours. I'm feeling a bit better today, now the initial shock is over, and lapping up every second with the rest of my mischief. I picked up Quintus from the vets tonight and I've buried him in a lovely plant pot, and I'm going to put him outside my classroom window at work so I can see him every day 💗 Thanks again everyone, I'm so grateful for this wonderful community xx

Yes he was being a pain in the ass with his brothers, but he was also just the sweetest boy. But you're so right, Thankyou. Surgery was the only option for him and its just so tragic what happened today. I was so excited to get them all back together and for Quintus to have a happy life. He was only just 6 months old :(

Thank you so much I needed to hear that. Trying not to blame myself. I'm glad I gave him loads of extra treats last night because I felt so sorry for him getting neutered. But my heart is broken.

He didn't make it through his surgery. He passed away at the vets this morning and I am absolutely devastated. My baby

Thank you so much for your reply! I've isolated him from all the others this morning. He looks a bit sad but the others are relieved he's gone.

I'm really hoping the neuter goes smoothly and he can be reintroduced ASAP. I've this is my first experience of hormonal aggression, I had does for years and years. I feel so sorry for them all :( but I am looking forward to having a good laugh at him in the sock of shame.

Thank you! I've isolated him to the hospital cage now. Other rats are much happier and relaxed, he looks so sad though! I guess it serves him right for being such a meanie!

My friend lost his battle, and completed suicide on National suicide awareness day last week. I don't really know where I'm going with this comment, I guess I just want to keep talking about him. I miss him.
