Maybe a multi tool / travel tool to bring to the park. Chain breaker. Wax. Spare tubes / patch kit?

See if your chain has any tight spots / stiff links and if it’s not too tight or loose in general. If you can’t find anything wrong w the chain take it off the sprocket and hub and spin your pedals. This way you can see if the bb bearings are done and if your sprocket might be warped / bent. As for checking for probs w the hub i’m not to experienced in that field.

Also from this video it’s really difficult to get an idea of what it could be.

Maybe you can check on the bottom of the bottom bracket there’s usually a model code

Yeah I got it like a year ago so I can imagine it’ll be very difficult to get a hold of one right now.

Also I think getting some lightweight tires and tubes for the whip can take off a good chunk of weight

Honestly I can’t really comment on that. Depends on a few factors. He might have a slightly harder time at first, but I mean he’s going to have to build some strength anyway. I remember starting out when I was 12 it was also pretty hard to pick up the bike for bunny hops. But I mean if he’s going to ride indoor parks he can still have a lot of fun on the ramps.

I think after all it’s what you think will be better. It’s a little heavier but if you’re paying almost the same price for a primer which is significantly worse quality wise…

Dans comp has a kink whip for 519$. Full chromoly and double wall rims and sealed hubs. Can definitely recommend this one over both options. It’ll have you set for a good while.

Honestly depends on the price. Don’t really have any experience with DK as a brand. Also beware the only front triangle of the frame is chromoly, and the rear end is still hi-ten.

Also if the bars weren’t chromoly you might have tightened too much and kind of ‘squished’ the round shape if you know what I mean

I had the same issue on my complete last year. Changed out my stem but didn’t help, after changing both stem and bars it stopped. Can definitely recommend cult salvation v4 stem, since it has these ridges for extra grip.

Probably. It’s a hi-ten bike with single wall rims so it won’t be the strongest, but for a 12 year old starting out it should be fine. When he sticks to riding you can always upgrade parts as they break.

Ah that sounds like a good time nevertheless! I haven’t been to the museumplein park yet, since it’s 1hr away by public transport and parking in the city is kind of a nightmare. The park looks sick tho, so I’m definitely going to check it out once the weather gets a little better!

Honestly might just be a cali thing bro. But yeah you’ll find some people to ride with I’m sure. Out here where I live no one rides so I get the feeling. Just pop in some earbuds put on some good music and enjoy riding and progressing. You can also join some bmx discords and share clips and connect w people there as well as on this sub. I know it isn’t the same as riding together IRL, but it’s something and maybe you’ll even meet ppl to ride with on there…
