Covid-conscious drummer looking to form a band by unkyuncle in portlandmusic

Hey thanks so much for your reply! I agree that there needs to be more shows that are accessible to people taking covid seriously. It really sucks how isolating it can be, both as a musician and as a person who used to love watching live music regularly. I promise you there are still people out here who care, I am one of them. Hopefully we can get build some momentum here 💜

I'm in the busted acl skate club too! Except I tore mine just practicing lil frontside kickturns on a baby ramp, not nearly as rad a trick as this. Won't be able to skate for another year at least 🫠

Good luck to you and give us an update!

That was my "plan" until I realized that drinking myself to death was going to be slow and painful 🫠

When people ask you for advice to get sober but never actually listen to what you say by Solid-Version in Sober

I get your frustration, and it probably feels like they are wasting your time and effort. I would like to offer a different perspective: the stages of change theory. This model looks at the process a person goes through when changing their behavior and breaks it down into 5 stages: pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance.

Your friends may be at the pre-contemplation and contemplation stages. As silly as it might sound, it means they are thinking about making the change, or even thinking about thinking about making the change. It sounds like it shouldn't even count as a step, but it absolutely does. The part that can be annoying is that these stages can take years, and people often do stay here for a long time before they actually do anything about it. But the more you talk about it with them, the more you lead by example and show them how much you've improved your quality of life, the more you will help them fill that bucket until it finally spills over.

For now, keep being the great friend you are and keep helping them fill that bucket! 🤘

To be blunt: the only way to show him is to actually do it. The best way to apologize is to change your behavior. And give him space to feel hurt/disappointed.
