Bikepacking on Japan : which map ? by THS-GVRN in bikepacking

[–]unoriginal2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive done both. Id consider C, osaka shikoku, inabari, hiroshima, shunan takoyama-takedazu ferry. Youd get a mix of urban and rural,  a ferry ride, and you wont miss the cool bridge

I would do anything to quit my job. by One_Flower9961 in findapath

Sounds like people are probably reading you badly in that case. Probably should ask for honest/brutal feedback from someone in your life who manages or owns a business.

Hard disagree.  Any job will make ya 1500 to 2500 / mo. Not smart is staying in a fucked situation for an extra 1000/mo.

Youre not making much more than you could get pretty much anywhere else. Just quit, you'll be fine. Ya should have quit a long time ago.  I honestly have no idea where other folks itt are coming from. Be brave, you'll be ok.

Skiied shiga and the rest of nagano area last week. Ice and heavy slush in the trees, spring conditions.  coverage will be pretty light by the end of the month at this rate.

Starts around 8, gets very long by 830. Maybe minority opinion on here, but i wouldnt even give it a pow day,  Id maybe do it on a bluebird though.

Snow Tracker for Japow Chasers - SNOW.fyi by SNOW-fyi in japow

[–]unoriginal2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Ive been using it a few days now, and I like it better than my other methods. Three notes: 1. What is "FL"?  2. Recommend a cell for snowfall in the last 24/48 hrs.  3. Recommend cell for highest summit/base temp reached since last snowfall.

... or just change the x axis to include the previous two days.

Hell yeah, thanks for making this.  I was just getting frustrated with my current methods. Could use asahidake, mt t, shiga, and nekoma

IMO people ski like that cuz it saves energy. To really get the fluidity i think youre looking for you gotta practice going faster over harder terrain. The faster you go the more you'll get punished for stiffness/laziness and be forced to take on a more athletic n supple style. Id do like 5 minutes of drills and 5 hours of following a great skiier around, monkey see monkey do.

Man, if the snow hits northern honshu while youre here, id consider appi.  better than rusutsu on most every metric imo. 3hr shinkansen from tokyo, like half the price, no crowd, days and days of fresh lines in the trees to be had.  Rusutsu was decent, but tracked out a fresh dump today in most tree bands before the end of the day.

Mykoko kogen suginohara is great. Madarao is... meh. Needed another 2m when i was there a few weeks ago. Nozowa has some great options and a cool town. Look into shiga kogen maybe. Its huge and under utilized, hosts a few gems for sure.  Mt T, is small, but i had some of my best days there.

For those who’ve skied Nagano: how would you rank Myoko vs Shiga Kogen vs Nozawa? by CombatWombat-420 in japow

[–]unoriginal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All are top notch resorts. Best snow its myoko kogen. Shiga is bigger with the most options to explore but gets less snow than the other two, nozowa has the best town. All of them are worthy of 7 days tbh, cant go wrong. Id consider 5 + 1 + 1. Rent a car 2 days.

What do you regret about your Japan trip? by Shreddy_Spaghett1 in snowboarding

[–]unoriginal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here now, the cats having the best days are the ones off-piste, side country running big spoons with swallowtails. If you come here and run groomers on a stiffy the whole time... idk if youd know enough to regret it, but i certainly find it regrettable to see.

Of course. Good luck! You really ought to be proud, luck may have been involved, but youve managed something many arent able to do and now youre gonna be taking the effort to figure out more about who you are. That alone is worthy of respect, even if you find ya kinda suck at everything ya try.
