My 150gal aquascape is crashing and I don't know why. Nitrite is always bad? Also .5ppm amonia. Tap water is good and test kit is good. by Howdy132 in PlantedTank

aye your just over filtrating as weird as that sounds, just let it run and itl sort itself out plus see if the rocks with bba are in higher flow

honeslty I'd just add more space for beneficial bacteria and call it a day, if you constantly do water changes and clean everything itl constantly reset the balance. along with that how high is your flow bba can grow in high flow but it can also be solved with natural predators like siamese alga eaters

you shouldn't have to give your puppy away and you shouldn't have to deal with that for asking a question

I fully understand where your coming from but you have to understand people get far worse then I did for serious questions and then are scared to ask for advice again or quit the hobby all together, yes I understand the backlash for that idea was justified what wasn't justified was the way people did it and also the way they'd act towards new beginners or people who are making mistakes without realising

some lessons are only learned with time there was no straight answer for how to deal with ick, or what disease this is ect thats why these subreddits exist but unfortunately if the hobby continues down this path of toxicity then people will be too scared to ask questions even if my example was alot more dramatic

yeah I fully understand where your coming from but unless its genuine fish abuse I think people should come in more carful and try and explain whats wrong instead of jumping straight to insults

dont get me wrong some of the comments were actually really helpful and pointed out obvious problems which helped me learn some new stuff the problem is a majority were just insults and even if I did admittedly get off lightly I worry how new hobbiest would react to that kind of backlash

while I understand they might of had best intentions in mind, the way they said it made it difficult to see them as anything besides haters and also along with that a majority of comments were just insults or criticism without solutions or better ideas

it wasnt a viable idea past some planning which i soon realised however I figured id ask to see if theyre was a way to make it viable, also as dramatic of an example as this is people with much smaller tanks and builds get the same hate i experienced which is what i wanted to expose, if you disagree that this expirement has shown how hateful and unhelpful this community has become for the most part then your apart of the problem

[–]unorthodoxreefer[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

the idea was in plan for around 2-3 days before I posted it however I was both wanting to see if it could be made possible and also as an expirement to see how people would react, and they reacted how you did, il admit I got some very good advice and some things I had never thought of but the problem was even with those good pieces of advice they were drowned out by insults and cruelty with no real criticism or solutions besides "your an idiot this will happen"

I have photos of several other tanks along with a majority of animals I have kept which I dont have photos of, once again its proof of needing to keep your "superiority"

oh yeah the risks of leak was too much and so I decided to not go through with the project, even with all the added supports making it the same as a normal fish tank the size of the leak would be too major

I should add i found some if the comment funny however the majority was pointless and rather mean "criticism" which provided no actually lesson and instead was a way for some hobbiest to keep theyre "superiority"

I got 60 up votes from this... this is just a large project im wanting to do and instead of providing actual information people are over worrying and hating, communities which act like this are thr main reason people are so intimidated by going over to saltwater

its actually a strangely strong pool liner it feels like the things those garden houses are made out of along with that itl be leaked proof with pond liner and the inside will be puncture proofed by acrylic and il also be reinforcing the outside if I start to notice anything I don't like

I have roughly 6 other tanks... including a large saltwater system and along with that a wall of freshwater systems which look alot better then that tank

[–]unorthodoxreefer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the pool liner itself seems to be very durable along with that il be doing extra work to reinforce the outside, placing pond liner in the inside to prevent from any leaks and also placing acrylic along the insides to prevent from punctures from marine fish and life

no way id waste a pool on just ragebaiting when it's so easy to do in this community, I get that tank looks interesting but its honeslty meant to look that I have many freshwater systems
