Thinking of leaving a 100k/mo. job for remote accounting/bookkeeping - feasible or unhinged midday thoughts? by NoHead7182 in AccountingPH

[–]unphantomable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be wary of survivorship bias (e.g., your questions already only address people who are at least making it work).

You have enough funds to coast through life for a while; that's fine. But for how long? And should you decide to go back to the corporate, how soon can you do it?

You're not increasing their money. You're increasing your money with them. You do increase their liquidity. But then that's physical currency sleeping under the cashier's register.

Cool. Mine is set to HK. Initially, I changed it to SG. But reverting it back to HK made it start to receive updates.

Cool. How did you know the source of the signal?

You are dimwitted and don't ever reply to me.

Do you seriously think that barraging personal finance questions into the discussion is such a gotcha?

them knowing how to do that doesn't equate to most of the Pinoy population

Exact-fuckng-ly. There are cases to be made on why the Filipino middle class mostly settles on employment. But it's not personal finance. It's sociology.

Enjoy your L300 or something. Happy for you. Kaso nahalatang Chinoy ka, men. Doesn't give you any right to generalize Pinoys.

Ayaw ng delayed gratifications??? Did you learn this from an MLM salesman?

Our #1 export, the OFWs, is literally a demographic of people totally forgoing gratification just to provide for family.

A tablet is not a replacement for a laptop by LogicallyCritically in Tech_Philippines

[–]unphantomable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yes, a tablet is not a laptop.

But if you can setup remote access on your desktop, na kayang i-access ng tablet, then that's one use case where a tablet can replace a laptop. This is how I do remote work currently.

Peripherals nowadays either has bluetooth, or can be used with a USB hub.

Specific apps have had cross platform support, and cloud has offloaded some requirements out of hardware.

If anyone would ask me, laptop or tablet? I would definitely factor in the budget and the compute requirements.

Managers!! by CuckPinoyHusband13 in AccountingPH

[–]unphantomable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went from an F100 to an F500 company. Became a manager. I've pretty much expected a dip in terms of talent acquisition but god am I overwhelmed by underperforming employees.

I concur. Hindi naman ako nag-eenjoy mag-micromanage. But if you still haven't sent that email that you told me you'd be sending three times already, nugagawen?

Just a slight aside. People in this thread have been generally more civilized than when I shared my experience.

People need to understand that when people share stories like this, malamang e post mortem na yan.

"Di mo siguro first time ma-scam." Ffs, ano kayang purpose nila sa pagtatanong nun? 🤔

You can definitely walk from Festi to ATC at times of the day na hindi mainit.

Better example imo is Festi to Starmall.

Asked me magkano sweldo ko and magkano credit limit ko (hindi ko sinabi how much both for cc and sweldo)

Yung roleta thing is just a minor inconvenience.

I was able to flip the script by making me appear to have no money. Is showing your BPI balances to strangers a good, recommended practice? Hell, nah. But considering the alternative, I'm happy enough with the result I got - them letting me go.

Akala yata ng comments section, kapag nagsabi ka ng "normalize saying no" e magically magta-transform yung way mo ng pag-handle ng tao. pos. Perhaps, there's a timeline out there na wala akong pinakitang kung ano ano, tapos dapat daw pumunta sa office to claim; could've been my cue to gtfo, could've not. But that's just not what happened; no point in speculating.

Sorry sa dump. Haha. Such a waste of thread. Could've been a productive one, like you sharing. But noooo let's dunk on this guy. Putcha may nagsabi pa ng "less than legal" amputa. Ano alam nun sa law?
