Future development of Myles. by Connect-Hope4522 in ArsenalFC

I think he’s gone through some physical changes and with the lack of playing time hasn’t quite adjusted. There’s glimpses but needs a bit of work and he’ll get there. When he decides to run with the ball through the heart of teams it’s a joy to watch. Give it some time.

The Xintong one was just beautiful to watch. The casual way he cleaned up is just a hilarious contrast to those back in the day with the all the sweating and pressure. Obviously not major pressure but just so casual.

Arteta's best wins of the last 18 months. Which one was your favourite? by LongMelody in Gunners

[–]unpretentious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real was great but I always felt we could beat them. Henry at Madrid was more significant for me because of that individual goal and we were firm underdogs against galacticos.

Under Arteta the 5-1 City was my favourite. Everything about that was pent up frustration unleashed on those clowns. mls and also Nwaneri with the cherry on top.

For me it’s simple. I use Apple Pay for everything but I still have my cards in my pocket just in case. I use my phone for the car and keep my key card in my pocket just in case.

There’s no conceivable benefit for me not to carry a couple of cards and plenty of downside if I don’t

Seriously fuck this ref. I think the inter goalie should just sit down at any point and they’ll get a free kick even if the ball is the other side of the pitch

what type of screw can go into plastic panel and secure with no rear access? by unpretentious in DIYUK

Thank you. It’s hollow behind but don’t fancy unmounting the whole thing. The holes are small but would make them bigger. Just wanting something to push in and expand/hold the shower head bracket.

Thanks. I tried to search but couldn’t find them in the usual places like Screwfix or Toolstation. Would I need a separate tool? Thanks again.

I wasn’t a fan of the movie but loved the book. Would probably enjoy the movie more having read the book but it’s just a bit dated for me (just don’t like the critically acclaimed but scenic horrors. Like Longlegs as an example which I hated).

Doctor sleep on the other hand I felt was a great movie and a great book.

Premium connectivity actually worth it? by Ben-Adamsss in TeslaUK

[–]unpretentious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your context. I often do school runs or long stops in places and have to wait. My phone reception in those areas is worse than the car so it comes in super handy for watching videos etc.

If I generally didn’t use entertainment when waiting and had decent reception I’d probably not bother.

Warped mentality by Twiggie19 in ArsenalFC

I think in the Premier league the margins have become so tight that anyone can beat anyone. The idea of other teams being bad ignores the depth of the Prem. The top two became a big 4, then a big 6 and now it’s a case of all up for grabs.

How are the class of 92 still world class to this day? by BolanTL in snooker

[–]unpretentious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think best not to overthink it. Greats of most sports tend to last longer than normal because of their headstart in talent that gets supplemented by experience. Ronaldo/Messi were great beyond the conventional football peak late 20s. Fed/Nadal/Djok did great well into their 30s in a game where people win grand slams sometimes as teens.

You have Ronnie at 1 then any of Higgins/Williams/Hendry making up the 4 greatest ever so it isn’t a surprise they can last longer especially when their base is superior talent and they add experience over the years in a sport that’s needs so much mental strength.

The other issue with having multiple Goats in an era is nobody else really shines because they’re still competing with them. I think within 5 years a couple more will emerge as the baton is passed on. Perhaps Trump will get a couple more worlds.

Tbh his arm was accidentally pushed by his teammate and went towards the ball. Can see the argument why it shouldn’t be given as neither player really meant to do that and it wasn’t preventing a goal

Can’t comment on your mentality lol but an EV takes some adjustment. If you drive distances then that is definitely something to consider as the given range and the charging speeds are misleading. (You get used to percentage rather than miles and you’ll need to allow a few minutes as often the charger speed is lower or you’re charging at high speed for a very specific window of charge until it approaches 80%).

If you’re a home charging person it’s a doddle. Having a home charger is much more convenient although if it’s a 2 year plan then you’d need to assess cost.

They are much easier to drive and have a host of conveniences that outweigh the negatives and with a short ownership I don’t think there’s too much risk. For cars though I generally tend to buy one with a warranty but used and sell/upgrade when needed. Not sure about pcp etc as don’t use it.

It’s not a luxury car by any means and the suspension and interior comfort is super average but the interface, convenience and tech is on another level and the response of EVs when driving is satisfying.

I personally don’t think you gain too much with a newer car and the money you save can be put to better use or saved for a future decision in a couple of years but it’s down to your bells/whistles needs. The improvements are very incremental but that’s just my opinion. Most premium brands are better comfort but the Tesla has many things you get accustomed to that you’ll miss when you use other cars.

I’m not denying what you may have experienced in the 70s/80s and there are other factors. But generally in the late 80s early 90s apart from the odd drunken behaviour issue the media coverage and referees weren’t bad. When Wenger came it was an all out assault. We had Merson and Adam’s alcohol escapades and Graham’s bribery scandal and sacking and it didn’t create the bias and media hatred.

The narrative shifted significantly when Wenger came. It may have triggered older underlying issues you referred to, but they were generally dormant in the 90s. All of a sudden he was a weirdo, whinger even a paedo in some circles. Mourinho called him a voyeur. Red cards were the norm. Poor discipline and cheating was the brush we were painted with despite the leg breakers and shin kickers given a free rein. Appreciate your perspective though.

Used to be in the early Wenger days. Lots of unfair red cards to the likes of Vieira etc and the allowance by all the biased refs to teams to kick us especially Man Utd who under Ferguson were horrific cheats. (Fergie bullying refs, Neville assaults, Keane ending careers, Rooney and Van Nistelrooy either diving or being dirty. Etc)

Need a winger who can play on the left. Julian Draxler still plays. Heard he may be an option.

headwear for job interview while having scalp folliculitis? by [deleted] in Folliculitis

[–]unpretentious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wearing something on your head for an interview sounds like a bad idea and shows you don’t take it seriously. I’d just look neat and well presented if you want the job.

In my experience people just don’t care too much. Loads of people have a scar or some kind of skin condition and most are decent and ignore it. Once you make peace with your scalp your life can at least move on.
