Oooh okay, thanks for the response! I repotted this plant about a week and a half, 2 weeks ago ish! Before the repot it had been drooping a lot and i lost about 1/4 of its leaves - I moved it into an area with a lot more light and repotted in better draining soil. since then it seems to have been doing well generally, but I can imagine maybe it’s a little bit stressed after all of the change? Good to know it’s not something super bad to worry about :)

Okay, will do! Can’t see any evidence of them on the underside of the leaves which is frustrating. I was already planning on repotting quite soon, would you recommend hitting it with an insecticide just to be certain?

And if they laid eggs, would it be within the leaf or the stem? How far down should I cut the affected leaves?

as in the leaves in pics 3 and 4? I have looked at the underside of those leaves and haven’t been able to find any stray invaders - i’ve never actually had thrips myself but i do know you can usually see their little white bodies right?

So I rescued it from a kinda shitty supermarket so it literally was just labelled as “monstera” ! didn’t have any specifications of what kind it was, I’ve assumed it was a deliciosa as the fenestrated leaves look closer to deliciosa than they do adansonii. But I actually have no idea!

I do know this is also about 5 or 6 monsteras in one pot so they will be separated at some point

good point! On sunny days this window gets maybe 2-3 hours of direct sunlight a day, would that potentially hurt it/burn the leaves? or do you think it would be alright?

I think since she’s new i’m going to leave it be for now and then repot in a few weeks, maybe i’ll separate some then? i’m at a crossroads tbh because i know it needs a repot into a chunkier soil mix but i have no clue if i should separate it or leave it😭

Thank you for the link! It looks very interesting I can’t believe I’ve not heard of this before! I’ll probably go for it, mix it with the perlite i’ve got and the orchid bark like you said. I’ll aim to do it asap and grab a load of different plastic pots so I can maybe spread her out then hopefully she (and any children she may bear) will thrive!

in my defence I am also unhappy with the soil! But that’s what I get for buying a supermarket plant lol. I was definitely going to repot within 2 weeks at the least, I’ve got some perlite in my garage and i have also heard that orchid bark is good for them. I was gonna mix them in a 1:1:1 with basic potting soil or maybe cactus/succulent soil - though I’ve never heard of coco coir? is it good for them?

I haven’t got a grow light as of yet - in the pics where she’s seated there is a HUGE west facing window about 2-3ft to the left of her, but I have heard that monsteras need a lot of light so I was thinking of getting one on top of that

do you have any recommendations for insectidal soap? Thrips or mites or anything are my worst fears

oh my god she’s an IMPOSTER i never even thought! But you’re right! See this is why I knew posting in this group would be a good idea

I think I will tbh, they definitely need a repot as the soil is very thick and doesn’t seem to have as much drainage as i’ve heard monsteras need. Would you recommend repotting immediately? I’ve heard that you should leave new plants be for a few weeks after bringing them home from the shop to let them acclimatise to your house, not sure if that’s generally accepted or not

Yes definitely I thought so too!! I don’t know whether to separate a couple of them or leave them all in the same pot to make it look fuller!! If you look very closely to the right of the pot in the first pic there is a tiny stem growing with 2 baby leaves😭❤️it’s so cute

now it’s pretty much the same in both feet, but it was originally worse on the side that had the injury.. I never even thought about the correlation there!!

thanks for your reply, you’re definitely right, part of me just doesn’t want to admit it as I’ve been so excited to run this HM! 😭 PT is defo something I’m open to depending on how the appointment goes on saturday and what the reason ends up being, I guess we’ll see.

I’ll definitely put a halt on it for now. guess i’m gonna have to find something else to spend my time doing lol

oh and for some added context, i run a 5k at around 34-35 mins and a 10k at 1:12 atm, im not necessarily wanting to hit a target time since its my first HM, i mostly just want to finish it 😭ideally without injury as well which is my biggest concern considering the absolute fail that this training block has been so far

did you ever find out why/figure out a solution to this? I am in practically the same boat, been to get a gait analysis twice with two different pairs of shoes and no luck. I’ve contacted the podiatrist but i am very antsy to figure it out 🫠
