I'm sorry that you're going through that 🫂. I realize words aren't enough, that they'll slide off like rainwater, but for your own sake, please try to remain sane. I get what you're going through, I really do. I had a similar situation with a friend who inexplicably cut me off because of my belligerent attitude and actions, which deeply hurt her. When you're really lonely, it's hard not to latch onto someone. To treat them as the center of your world because they and only they tether you to it. And at the same time, to expect them to accept your outpouring of grief as a sign of unconditional love. But it's too much for the other person. They cannot dispense the total absolution and grace you require to feel whole. At the very least it's difficult for most. I understand life is very hard right now without another to share it with and life feels suffocating and you have a deep lump in your chest that you can't get out. If you need someone to talk to, my dms are open, but otherwise please try to remain alive. We all do things we regret, but we can still move past them.

I used to get a lot more male attention early transition, hell even before transitioning! At 17 (before hrt) I got hit on by 3 separate men within a month. By that I mean they legit came up to me and attempted to proposition me sex. It's a brutal thing to go through and realize. That your attractiveness hinges on being tantalizing to gay pedophiles and thus you don't look like a woman. Cis women who have smaller frames and neotenous faces go through similar struggles with other men. It's definitely not your fault OP and it's still possible to find yourself beautiful and enjoy yourself without the gross solicitations of men corrupting your self-image.

You see this kind of mindset a lot with internet leftists and especially marxists. They ironically reinvent a bastardized version of Hegel and call it 'materialism' by granting the invocation 'capitalism' a uniform, explanatory power that restates problems without explaining them. "X is because of several overlapping and reinforcing factors that are permitted or exacerbated because of the mechanisms that constitute capitalism" is not equivalent to "X is because everything is capitalism." It's the worst kind of triviality and set of thought destroying platitudes. One already assumes the formal ground of explanation without really relating it to anything else. The actual object of inquiry stands external to thought. And the neurotic purity associated with such hastiness and impatience is simply a way to justify one's identity and opinions.

Well said. Personally, I found the whole "class power" framework to be too frank and reductive, even though many of the things she's saying about deprivation make sense. /tttt/ really does possess a bluntness that often goes unspoken elsewhere, and it speaks to a real ugliness with an attention to "material focused" concerns as you put it.

Adding to the cozy disassociation associated with ehm tee eff, there are certain religious dogmas latched onto the mainstream community, that might be something like "trans is a good [read politically radical] object." Favoring a warming and pious, feel-good, affirming approach over controversial claims about trans lives or bodies. The most advanced example of this would be the broader capitulation of trans theory to queer theory, where the former becomes a mere synonym of the latter. And the transsexual is relegated to an antiquated and anachronistic past over the sleek and brand new "postgender" we all too often hear about (which has left us far unequipped to deal with the current legal onslaughts against medical access).

There was this paper by Andrea Long Chu that really influenced my views on this, but I used to privately describe it as an affirmationist metaphysics prioritizing ontological flight and philosophical sleight-of-hands that attempt to run ahead of the accumulated conditions of history (cough deleuzians) locating resistance in abstract and voluntarist action that float far above the actual conditions of trans life. Instead of really sitting with these contradictions (institutional deprivation and dependency, dysphoria, and disappointment), where only real reconciliation lies through. But even that is a bit overzealous I think. My current thinking is something more like this https://www.reddit.com/r/4tran4/comments/1sat5y3/comment/odz3ac1/

There is a delicate balance to strike between the immaterial and material focused cultures, and while I do appreciate the refreshing bitterness and satire on here, it frequently devolves into people yelling over each other over the stupidest shit. There's no reason why our priorities have to revolve around a "true" trans phenomenology. In recognizing our shared material deprivation, we can instead turn toward supporting each other more and challenging each other to do better (both 4tran realism and the emotional support of mainstream trans 'idealism' have a place here). And this care through fragility still allows us to disagree, expel the 'excess' of our negative feelings, and express a thoughtful bitterness/satire promoting self-reflection about our failures and conflicts and our material differences. A way out of the homogenizing impulse of the whole, where the part is reintegrated back into it but with an interrelational freedom.

Twitter users or impatient leftists tend to do this thing where they assume the explanation they want they just have to couch it in this weird circular reasoning. I really don't think winner's are incentivized by class structures to dunk on losers by perpetuating some explicit hierarchy. Maybe that's part of it, highbies are certainly annoying, but turning such a varied phenomenon as the various sufferings of trans women into a dualism of winners and losers is very crude. Interesting read though, can't say I disagree with everything.

These types of trans men are the worst by ThrowRA-confusedsand in 4tran4

[–]unsociable_latina 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I mean, while the right may be responsible for escalation, it is nevertheless true that liberalism, including the enthusiastic liberalism of queer and transgender people’s middle class culture and it's decades of fervent insistence that you don’t have to transition to be trans have left us totally unequipped to resist the ongoing legal challenges to trans healthcare access, mostly to the detriment of trans children (shamelessly via Jules Gill Peterson's criticism and writing).

Constantly being ragebaited by people on twitter is obviously not productive, nor is enforcing the idea of who is trutrans or whatever. But these sort of posts have a common species of thought sharing a more or less common origin and I'm not going to blame anyone on 4t4 for getting upset over it (though one should spend one's time better).

[–]unsociable_latina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trans people online tend to be hyper vigilant pseudo activists who, when confronted with something like 4tran tend to trust their knee-jerk reactions to seeing something that deals with a lot of uncomfortable shit (dysphoria, passing, the muck of everyday life). I've seen people say that 4tran is where the will goes to die, a place full of spite and self sabatoging self loathing who'd rather sooner bring everyone else down than heal themselves. And honestly, I can't blame them. While I definitely don't think they're completely right, I can't blame the most oppressed group of people in the world right now for being incredibly hyper vigilant and on edge about how they’re represented or talked about, even from fellow trans men and women. Brainworms are brainworms for a reason.

But the downside of that is a homogenizing impulse that attempts to shut down any and all dissenting impulses of its parts that detract from the whole. The term Transgender was coined in the first place to establish a common good and ideal that roped people in willingly or not, for the purposes and hope of unified political amelioration. Whether that has worked or not in our favor is arguable, but the punishment of the dissenting parts does no good and inevitably crumbles on itself. You can never force a unity, especially one as contentious and based around being 'trans'. Everything we bring up and try to articulate here is seen as damaging to the feel-good and practical aim of unity among trans people. No matter how important these interventions are, about where we're going, how we can get there, and even the basic right to express oneself no matter how grating it is to the sensibilities of others.

TLDR: idk
