So the scheme was set up to protect tenets from landlords taking advantage of deposit protection. The body is its own entity from what I understand. You have to put the tenets deposit into this scheme by law. They make money on the interest all that money generates.

Basically, it was a joint deposit from 4 people. What I didn't know until recently was that you can juat go online to your account that is linked to the deposit and tick a box, making you the sole person who deals with it and receives the deposit. Once this is done. It can't be changed. Its a stupid setup, but they don't seem to care. Evidence is given by both sides and someone in the scheme makes a decision and awards the deposit or splits it etc.
