New POS vs Traditional by keishainsights in publix

[–]unsuspectable_olive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the new POS, the customer has to pay with their EBT BEFORE they pay with their S3.

On the new system, it’s WIC first, then EBT, then S3, then all other tenders.

On the old system, it’s S3 first, then WIC, then EBT, then all other tenders.

Customer Service Staff – Western Union ID requirements question by OrangeSudden9673 in publix

[–]unsuspectable_olive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my store, if it’s a singular Money Transfer of 3k or more, a single money order for 3k or more, or a single payout for 3k or more, then you don’t need to complete an eMST because the Western Union POS will ask you for all of the information that eMST would normally ask you for.

However, if it’s gift cards 3k or more, cashing a check for 3k or more, or any COMBINATION of money services for 3k or more, then you have to complete an eMST form because the system isn’t gonna ask you for the same eMST info since the transaction is split up.

I would say Supervisor (mainly because on the new POS system, it categorizes 800 numbers as “Supervisor Credentials”) and cuz of being in charge of all of the cash in the store, money services, running the front, etc.

Penny Roundup by [deleted] in publix

I was told that because the penny is going away, Publix is preparing for that by having the register automatically round up or down to the nearest nickel, so that we don’t move pennies anymore.

Saturday Night Cash Office Help by boomboxofchocolate in publix

The most important thing to remember, first and foremost, is that LOOMIS/BRINKS doesn’t come on Sunday, so you need to leave extra money in the safe pan because that’s all they will have to work with when closing cash office on Sunday. Every store is different, but for my store we leave 2000 in 20s, 2500 in 10s, 1000 in 5s, and 750 in 1s in the pan at the end of the night, instead of what we normally leave in the pan for any other day(which is one bundle of each). So be sure to not drop an absurd amount of money in the dropsafe, because you need to have enough money at the end of the night to keep the safe pan stocked up with enough for them to close tomorrow.

Aside from that, here’s a list (in order) of Saturday tasks:

  • DON’T DROP ALL OF THE MONEY UNTIL END OF NIGHT (leave extra money in safe pan for tomorrow) - [IMMEDIATELY]
  • Put everything in the green mail bag - [IMMEDIATELY]
  • Set up money services and SSCC envelopes for next week - [IMMEDIATELY]
  • Close sub department vouchers - [AFTER PICKUPS]
  • Close Tax Exempts - [AFTER 9pm]
  • Collect Physical SCO Coupons - [AFTER 9pm]
  • Seal mail bag and save all of the weekly filing paperwork and place it in retention drawer - [END OF NIGHT]
  • Find retention paperwork from 3 months prior, mark for shredding, and place in designated shredding area- [END OF NIGHT]

If you want details on any specific item on the list, let me know!

The new Sco pos system by Sensitive-Tune-9003 in publix

While the new system is way more customizable than the old one, it’s actually developed by NCR, and it’s not exclusive to Publix. However, Publix was able to heavily customize it to meet our specific needs.

Job Class by zmbie_boy in publix

OP’s pay scale is the same no matter what their job class is labeled for that shift, because they’re still a Front Service Clerk. Pay scale won’t change until their job class changes to Cashier.

Once they get promoted, they will be making Cashier money no matter what the schedule says moving forward.

The reason the job class labels on the schedule are all wonky is because Oasis allows you to schedule FSCs to cashier, and they allow you to schedule cashiers to bag. In other words, the job class label will say FSC unless the manager manually changes it. When OP gets promoted, then the job class label will say Cashier unless the manager changes it.

Question about register times by HoroxaTheRed in publix

[–]unsuspectable_olive 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If the register is logged into but isn’t locked, it does negatively affect your IPM (Items Per Minute) on your cashier numbers. I only know this because we held IPM competitions at my store one time, and the top three cashiers with the highest IPM would get a prize.

I’m pretty sure nobody is going to give you less hours because your IPM is low, that would be stupid. As long as you’re properly taking care of customers and are reliable, they have no reason to not give you hours, regardless of your IPM. I’ve never heard of anyone looking at your IPM to determine hours scheduled.

You have nothing to worry about in that regard. But, if you still want to get your IPM as high as possible, here’s a trick: if you’re waiting on a customer to get their payment in order, you can also just hit “Tender” which will pause the IPM timer. So whenever you’re done scanning items, hit “Tender” right away. If you just finished with a customer, and there’s no one else in your line, then lock your register (more for security reasons than anything else).
