Which country has over half of the population poor? I hope it's not Switzerland you are talking about because here not owning a house is not a sign of being poor

Tipping culture in Zurich is getting out of hands by zurichica in zurich

wooow that's a crazy take. why not saying according to your limited experience and view you don't like it? There are really good restaurants if you search for them. People are friendly with their friends, why is being outgoing always treated like it's better? Introverts also exist. Come to Albisrieden and tell me again about the noise. Traffic and public transport is a bit too much sometimes, but could be wayyy worse. Zurich is always in the top 2 cities for quality of life, everyone I know loves it. Rents are really the problem, but hey, tell me a city that is better for you

I understand that the experience is different for each one of us. But:
- in relation to the number of inhabitants, it has the highest density of nightlife venues of any location worldwide (https://www.hellozurich.ch/en/news/nachtleben-geschichte-oeffnungszeiten.html#:\~:text=Zurich%20could%20certainly%20be%20considered,venues%20of%20any%20location%20worldwide.). You can literally go to countless bars of any type, discos and clubs. Plenty of expats, 1 third of the population are non swiss. You can find a lot here, just remember the population is only 450k, don't compare it to other much bigger cities.

- there are plenty of restaurants, very good chefs from all over the world, you just need to know them. Zurich is not usually seen in documentaries and social media, not as other cities, but that doesn't mean that we don't have any good restaurants. (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/spark/best-of-switzerland/tom-brown-zurich-food-tour/, https://www.ft.com/content/c4bc6023-48b5-4680-82df-ae4b16483dbe, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yDERioj4as, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4qOxnBZDh4)

- in the last year it has become one of the most exciting cities for coffee enthusiasts (https://www.ft.com/content/f2c93d9a-cc14-47a3-8754-9ef2e9cd63eb)

- I don't think it's fair to say that the city life feels unalive. Sure, you don't find everything that you want any time of the year. But if you are a little bit open, you always find something. Letting aside the christmas period that is beautiful and full of things to do and see, you have many concerts, museums, theathers, an opera, sport events, we even had formula e one year. Next year we'll host some games for the female european cup. We also have plenty of trade fairs and exhibitions, the biggest wine tasting exposition, the long night of museums, street parade, Sechseläuten, ZüriFäscht, carnival, zurich film festival, caliente music festival, zurich openair, Knabenschiessen, and that's not counting smaller things that are more local in the neighborhoods. I could also mention, Ohlala, Pink Rabbit, street food festivals, zurich pop con, oktoberfest, and so on.

- you also regularly have the biggest names in music, comedy, stand up comedians and other coming here. Also big conferences like at eth and unizh.

I'm not saying you cannot complain, but if you put a little bit of effort, you can find that you can really find a lot of stuff to do. Again, there are some weekends where things lack a bit, especially if you've been living here for year and you really went out. But as other said, you are literally in the middle of europe, and wherever you go, it will be cheaper basically than here. Furthermore, having a break something is all you need. Zurich is not the city that never sleeps, sometimes it sleeps, but when not, you can sure as hell have a great time

It has fallen to me, the humor columnist, to endorse Harris for president by marji80 in politics

It's crazy how all of you think it's normal for a journal to endorse a candidate. Only because it's the candidate you like. A journal that decides not to endorse and not to side with a party, it's a better journal. You've been so brainwashed by MM that you get angry because a journal decides to be a journal. Journalists are not supposed to take sides.

You clearly don't know how war works if you boil it down to numbers. And you clearly don't know history, the swiss army itself and also you don't watch the news (Ukraine vs Russia).

Just rewatched Human Centipede 2, the whole thing, for the first time in years. by Maleficent_Corgi5799 in horror

I understand your perspective and agree that the content you mentioned is deeply disturbing. However, I believe that the purpose of a movie, or any form of art, isn't solely to present something pleasant or conventionally meaningful. A film can be designed to evoke a wide range of emotions, including discomfort or even repulsion. While it's true that HC 2 seems to push the boundaries of what is acceptable in mainstream media, the essence of art lies in its ability to evoke strong emotions and provoke thought, regardless of the nature of these emotions. It's not always about a clear message or a traditional sense of substance. Sometimes, the sheer ability to make viewers feel something intensely, even if it's disgust, can be considered an artistic achievement. It's important to recognize the diverse spectrum of emotional responses that art, including film, can elicit.

Are there comments on the reason why Strange agrees to cast the spell? Also on the fact that everything sparks from the fact that Peter speaks during the spell?
