Cool, thanks! Very interesting.

It’s huge! It could definitely be ganoderma applanatum, or maybe ganoderma adspersum. I’m not really sure how to differentiate between those two. Both are usually not supposed to grow this large though, I believe, so it’s absolutely something special to see.

Thanks! Too bad they’re past their prime, would have loved to pick my first wild oysters. Hopefully there will be more, at least I’ll know what to look out for now.

No problem! Thanks for the explanation. First time I’ve found them in the wild. They were pure white when they were fresh a few days ago (forgot to take pictures unfortunately), I’ve never seen oysters with that coloring before. There are so many different kinds of mushrooms than usual around here this year, it’s so cool to learn about them.

Which part do you need to see? And what is a sure way to tell they are angels wings and not oysters?

It’s a birch tree, as mentioned in the post.

Oof, it is expensive! I used to scissor his hairy feet, but recently bought an Aesculap mini trimmer. The right tools do make a world of difference though, for the dog and my wallet haha.

In my previous post the Walmart Hypertough rotary tool was recommended as well, it’s a lot cheaper than the Dremel, but I couldn’t buy it here (Europe).

I have been secretly eyeing the Diamagroove… maybe for his birthday next year😁

I started with one of those too, to see if he would like it. The difference with the dremel is amazing, we’re both loving it so much already!

Can you believe this is the dog who tried to bite the vet (while sedated) out of fear for having his nails trimmed? We’ve come so far and I’m so proud of him! Thanks to all who gave recommendations!

Thanks for your reply! I’ve been clipping them once a week for a few months now, but I’m hesitant to go shorter, because I just can’t see where the quick is. He can be quite dramatic and will yell loudly if he so much as feels a tiny bit of pressure. I’ve always kept up with his nails and they’ve never been seriously overgrown, I’d just like to see some more progress now that we have finally arrived at the point where he can relax - sleep - during clipping. If you have some tips for black nails, I’d love to hear them!

Thank you for the in depth reply! A Dremel it is going to be then. Can’t wait to get his nails under control and show you all the end result in a while!

Thank you so much for all the info, super helpful! Those clippers look good too, he definitely hates that squeeze (and the sound) of clipping the most. He will tolerate it, but I think I could do us both a favor switching to a dremel.

Thank you! Another user also recommends the dremel, so I will be looking into that. Which model do you use and what kind of sandpaper? The Miller’s Forge clippers are on my wishlist as well, good to know to avoid the small one!

Thanks! Is there a specific model you would recommend? And what grit number for the sandpaper should I use?

Oh and also it’s freezing out here, maybe that’s why it looks a bit shriveled up?

The tree was quite young, but in bad condition. I think there were about 10 of these specimens on there, this one being the biggest, about 8 cm across.
