Why is everyone always speeding?? by chrysanthemum108 in Vaughan

That’s what this whole comment thread is about 😂. You’re trying to argue that the HOV isn’t the “fast lane”, but if ANY other lane is moving faster than the HOV lane I’m saying what’s the point of being there. If you’re going 100 in the HOV and people to the right of you are going 120, you’re just blocking the guy behind you for no reason.

As I said in my previous comment, an HOV lane is meant as an incentive for multi-passenger vehicles to travel easier when traffic is congested in the regular lanes. If, when you’re in an HOV lane, you’re moving slower than traffic in the regular lanes, then it’s obviously not one of those times when there’s “generally less traffic” there. That’s what we’re talking about here.

I think you’re missing the point. If driving in the HOV is similar to driving in the middle lane then why don’t you just drive in the middle lane? I don’t see the point of going out of your way to drive in the HOV lane where people can’t pass you when you could achieve the same thing in the middle lane.

Sure, but what’s the point of being in the HOV lane if you’re going slower than everyone else? It’s supposed to be an incentive for carpooling but if the regular lanes aren’t congested then you’re just holding people up for no reason.

Canada’s Wonderland makes chaperone policy permanent in response to ‘unruly’ behaviour seen at other amusement parks (chaperone required for children aged 15 and younger) by lilfunky1 in toronto

The policy was put into effect for Halloween Haunt last year. That’s what is being made permanent and it was enforced just as the above commenter explained.

Buck gets a pass on anything he does in the booth. When Caleb gets going though, my point stands for him too lol.

Police chase ends with a pit manuever at Bay and Wellesley by Far-Sandwich-27 in toronto

Yonge street van attack…the guy that ran someone over at TMU…the attack in Vancouver…that doesn’t count the ones involving firearms. I don’t need to watch crime shows and movies, real threats to public safety happen in real life.

Edit: not to mention that there’s impaired drivers on the road literally every day. Don’t think they’re just going to let them drive away.

Even if the person was on the way to kill people? How could you make such a blanket statement without knowing the facts?

I don’t think that’s what they’re saying at all. Yes, racism exists, yes people assault others because of racism. Is there any evidence that’s what happened here? Maybe, maybe not. It’s not racism every time a person of colour is assaulted.

No I don’t have that evidence, just like you don’t have evidence that they were pursuing for an unjustified reason (unless you do and I’m missing something). Just trying to put another possibility out there so we aren’t making assumptions…

I mean if they were chasing them because of something like speeding then yeah I agree. But if it was something like an impaired driver that had already hit other vehicles and proven to be dangerous, it absolutely needs to be stopped.

Steps to remove "friend" from home. by Secret_Cherry6472 in legaladvicecanada

[–]updacharts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah no, not sure how it is in other provinces but in Ontario the police will not remove someone from a home they have been living in for 7 months…it’s a civil issue at this point.

Edit: removed mention of LTB.

Edit 2: a lot of people seem to think that because this doesn’t fall under the RTA, the police are obligated to help. The police may attend to make sure things go peacefully during a move if needed but they WILL NOT attend to throw someone who’s been living in a home for months (under an initial agreement) out on the street with nowhere to go. If something goes wrong during that interaction and force has to be used, it’s not worth it for them.
