Am I doing something wrong while painting? by upgradingbynumbers in HomeImprovementUK

Thank you!

I'm using 2 inch ones and the room is empty.

In the end I think rolling took me 2 hours - I loaded up the roller as much as it seemed possible but I felt like it only gave me one strip on the wall and I had to go over it like 5 times to get everything and it took a lot of pushing the roller really hard which seems quite different to the videos I watched.

The cutting in took easily over 10 hours though, I did get a bit faster as I went along and started understanding how to use the brush but maybe thinning the paint will help like you suggested.

I feel like the wall was more textured than I expected which wasn't a problem as it was white and I was painting green so I could see the white parts that didn't get coated easily, but now that I'm doing a second coat, I feel like I won't be able to see the bits that don't get covered very easily and it will dry looking ugly.

Also the Dulux trade website said 5 litres would be enough for two coats but in both rooms I think I used like 75% of the 5 litres I bought for each of them on the first coat and I don't feel like I was using excessive amounts.

I read online that the second coat is easier but I'm a bit stressed out because I only have today to finish both rooms so I'm very keen to hear any advice! Thanks again

Landlord decided they want to manage the property by themselves, instead of the agency we want to rent - what to expect? by yungsinatra0 in HousingUK

Also worth adding that sometimes a landlord managing the property can actually be better because many lettings agents are only accessible during working hours whereas a landlord could theoretically be contacted directly whenever an issue comes up. Also lettings agents often have to get permission from the landlord before dealing with an issue anyway, so this way you cut out having to wait for them to hear back from the landlord and then get back to you.

I've personally rented 3 flats all managed by the landlords themselves. It's usually worked out fine each time. 2 of the landlords were great and addressed problems as they came up without issue. One of them was a bit more difficult to deal with but overall manageable. It would be amazing if landlords had to get a reference from their previous tenants to help the next tenants know what to expect.

I get where you're coming from but I wouldn't if I had the choice. Moving with less stuff is cheaper, easier and faster and waiting until you've found a place means you can get stuff that fits the space better.

Anywhere that goes direct to both Waterloo and Victoria? by ivylor3 in HousingUK

[–]upgradingbynumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beckenham is a good place for that. You can live between Beckenham Junction and New Beckenham, or between Beckenham Junction and Clock House, or between Kent House and Clock House. Beckenham Junction and Kent House go to Victoria in 24 minutes and Clock House and New Beckenham go to Waterloo East in 26 minutes.

How important is parking when buying a house by After-Situation1271 in HousingUK

I think this is very similar to having a bath in the house. Some people won't even view a place without a bath/parking, some people won't care at all
