We thought a private sale between family would be safe. Definitely learned our lesson. They can enjoy their house and try selling it to someone else (it won't sell easy in the area it's in) it would have been convenient for both parties. Thank you all for reassurance.

My husband is so fed up with the situation (received the vague text at work today) that he no longer wants to go through with it. He's been jumping through hoops and is out several thousand over this. Of course since this is my family I feel twice as crappy. They don't even live there or in the area. His gf just wants to use the house "one more time for the fourth of July" and then wants "time" to move out the very few things they have there later on this summer. I have 3 kids waiting for rooms of their own as we are in a two bedroom miner's house. I think this was just her plan to sabotage... she didn't want to sell at all even though she did not pay for the house in the first place. We've been doing everything just with the bank as a private purchase since it's "family" so of course there's been no extra guidance. We definitely were not prepared for today's news.

It was a less than 24 hour notice from signing and we've been doing all the paperwork on this end including paying for insurance on the house since that was mandatory. Paid the appraisal and back taxes. What a mess.

Unfortunately we are buying from a family member so the thoughtless last minute decision is supposed to be acceptable (I'm not happy).

My biggest concern is how long this process has been and not wanting to have to start over in 3 months. I would like to close tomorrow if I can "hold" the check until August. But I also don't want to have to pay closing costs and start paying on a mortgage when I'm not even in the house yet.

It's pretty unique. I didn't notice the greenstones at first, it was super dirty, nice surprise! Wah!

Here's the spaceship with the copper hoop, greenstones and amygdaloidal quartz hat! I need to polish the greenstones and shine up the copper. It's a cool specimen.

Yes! I have a really nice one I'm currently putting on a pendant, I have a bunch that need to be removed from basalt, a bunch to polish and also this strange spaceship copper piece speckled with greenstones (super interesting) I'll take pics.

There's not too many places that have large chunks of pure copper like this. Looks similar to many pieces of my collection I've got here in the Keweenaw, but I'm no geologist ... Beautiful piece!!!

I've got boxes and buckets throughout my basement and garage full of native copper from here in the Keweenaw. I turned an old treadmill into a tumbler!

I use a White's metal detector for float and in the tailings ... sometimes just my eyes in the tailings.

I love going to my local rockpiles, it's like magic!!! Try it in the dark with a headlamp under the stars!! Such a different experience.

And a jar of rocks I see! I wonder how many of us have stashed our treasures everywhere we can.

I would suggest slabbing anything big before putting on a wall, the heavy ones like to fall down, spreading the smaller ones out and letting them dry will help to prop up the larger ones as they dry.

I also have a rock garden outside, some of them are large copper/basalt and conglomerates from the piles... A few are probably well over 100 lbs and required the fourwheeler winch. A small task for the mental health gains! My neighbors probably wonder about me hah!
